I am most likely going to get the F87 CS over the G80C now that I have seen how the regular 2 series looks.

I think the G87 CS is going to be something really special. I'd like to continue to keep my F87C as well as a daily and will take out the CS for special road trips.

The challenge will be to get an allocation for CS, it's probably not going to be easy.

I thought it is quite clear?
In generation F8x, we did have a M4CS and M3CS.
The same pattern is expected for the G8x! There have been already spyshots around of a G82CS mule!
This seems logical as the G82CSL is no replacement of a G82CS! Totally different animal!
That the G82CSL will be presented/hit the market in 2022 before the CS versions of M3/M4 is due to the fact, that BMW M wants to have this iteration of the fabulous CSL moniker out for their 50 year anniversary in 2022.

Regarding questions about big rear wing or back seat delete of the coming G82CSL:
BMW did the switch from GTS model (E92 and F82) to CSL for their most extreme version intentionally. And if you take the M3 CSL E46 legend, it neither had a back seat delete nor a very large wing! Looking at the G82CSL mules, it looks like it will rather emulate the recipe of the E46 CSL than the recipe of the not so legendary M3 GTS (E92) or M4 GTS (F82)!

I thought it was absolutely silly to delete the armrest in the previous CS. Hec, I think it's silly that BMW doesn't put a rear seat armrest in the F80 or G80. However much weight is saved from removing the opening mechanism and that open space (what, ounces?) is not worth the lack of comfort on a longer drive.

But if BMW is going to cater to you lightweight-chassis enthusiasts, maybe for the CSL, they'll go all in for you track heads...and offer it without a radio, A/C, rear seats and the armrest, along with thinner windows, much less sound deadening, a carbon fiber hood and trunk, and more. For the CSL, maybe they'll go ALL in for you track heads.

For the CS, just give the rest of us some more power, more aggressive alignment and suspension tuning, and maybe a carbon fiber hood. But for many of us, we'll still want the radio, A/C and even the armrest. Oh, I'd like the thicker windows too.

Since they're seemingly producing both a CS and a CSL model, hopefully we'll get more focused models at varying degrees of "hardcore-ness"

While I'm digging the grills...I really wish BMW would stick to any sort of consistency with them.

The M3 Gts IS legendary in Europe. Impossible to get your hands on one unless you have $200,000+ in the bank. Ask any car enthusiast over there.
Too early to tell for the M4 Gts.

Since they won't produce both the CS and CSL models at the same time (for exclusivity reasons), it won't work quite as you describe.

And no A/C on track around Maryland requires a cool shirt system. Not pretty, and I doubt there are any weight savings since it adds a big cooler full of ice & water in the car. Anyway even LeMans cars have A/C these days.

BMW deleted the arm rest in the CS because the redesigned the center tunnel with CF and alcantara. I think it's visually much more appealing even though the CF only saves like 6lbs. I don't miss the armrest one bit.

I do wish they did things like manual seats and maybe thinner carpet, at least on the F87 to bring the weight down a little more.

Overall, I'm not a fan of the exterior aesthetics of the G82 but the G80 has definitely grown on me. The lack of manual transmission is a no go for me on either top model.

I'll wait for the first hybrid/electric 800HP M3/4 if it's going to shift for me.

I saw them yesterday in Brooklyn on a 320 with an "M badge" (no 3 just the letter M).

It's been bad for awhile. I saw a very convincing F30 "M3" with a full body kit 3 months ago but something didn't look right to me...it was missing the flared out rear arches.

I love all enthusiasts and realize not everyone can afford an M3 first (or even second hand). But to try and pass it off as something it's not...especially when the only people who CARE it's an M3 can easily differentiate it.

Moving on....
