Couldn't agree more. Tried very hard to get used to that grille and thought the coupe in black was borderline OK. But coincidentally this dude who lives close to me bought a brooklyn grey M3 and I've been passing by that grille a lot on my way home recently. And I've come to the conclusion that the front end just isn't palatable.

Right in the first post it says RWD.
^^^^

and they've already intimated the G87 if likely RWD

The main problem I have with this car besides the grille is the size of the car. It just looks so big. It almost is the size of a M5 coupe or something. Plus the car has the same engine as the M4 Competition with only around 30 more horsepower. This car would be a lot more exciting if they could have put the M5 engine in it.

It would be really cool if they put a Ferrari engine in it also!

I guess my point is that a M5 CS coupe would be more exciting than a glorified M4 Competition. That is why I suggested the M5 engine.

A lot were having the same kind of comments about the CS models, be it M2, M3/4 and even M5 before they were released and at the end everyone was blown away of how well they drove even if the hp gain was modest and weight savings not that huge.

I think from F series CS onwards, it's a case of "more than meets the eye/specsheet" for special BMW models.

It's all the small details/changes added up together that end up having a significant impact.

I trust BMW will deliver a car that's worthy of the CSL badge. There will be the usual gripes about pricing and value but the car itself will be special and targeted towards a very focused customer group.

Why can't people have differing opinions on it? I don't like the front end of the current M3/4 but I don't go around trying to call other people wrong or change their thoughts.

I do actually think it looks better in pictures than in person (which seems to be the opposite of most people here), but I still won't ever own one.

Think the problem is there is a lot of G8x content posted to the bimmerpost front page and that attracts a lot of non G8x people and trolls to post their "thoughts". I also think there are a some extremely defensive posts here but I get it too, if I visit a subforum for my specific car and frequently see non-owners troll I would be pissed too. I was initially negative on its appearance but am pretty neutral now on its appearance, think it has its pros and cons but I am mainly intrigued by its performance.

Agreed. Every other post is about the grille when half of these people have not seen the car in person. They are just regurgitating group think to feel accepted. It's human nature, which I get.

I hopped on the F8X boards the other day and the toxic posts in there are ridiculous. We are all driving BMW's at the end of the day.

Do CSL models typically come with a rear wing?

If so, can the wing be optioned out at build?

Do CSL models come rear seat delete/roll bar?

If so, can a rear seat be optioned in at build?

Yes, I realize what I have asked above might just equate to CS model, which is probably my sweet spot . . . but unless I am reading the anticipated timeline wrong, seems the CSL will be released in about a year and CS in about 2 years.

Not suggesting driving the G80C another couple years would be unpleasant or anything stupid like that . . . it is just rare that I ever keep my rides more than a year or two before I get the 'itch' to move on to the next experience.

Clearest shots yet of the exclusive M4 CSL grille and aero parts.

Same. I just can't get into it, but wish I could. Maybe I'll come back around to the LCI, depending on what they do. This looks…slightly better?

Anything in the 7:2X range would be absolutely ridiculous for the M3/M4 and the rumored time seems to be in that range. If the G8x is as fast as the outgoing m4 csl how fast is this csl version gonna be
Of course that's obvious, but you have to remember the fastest M4 the GTS with its track aero ran a 7:27.88. The non 1LE Camaro ran a 7:29.60. That's far to close especially considering the M4 cost $133,000. The fact is BMW needs to do better full stop. This new G82 better run a low 7:20 or high 7:19 if not it's an embarrassment.

This car is gonna be so hot, I can't wait to see it! Much more elegant than the GTS models but still functional, and unlike the M3 CSL this time the automatic will be faster than the manual!

The M5 coupe is effectively the M8. Go get one!

Any details on the hood/bonnet? There seems to be more going on there than on the regular M3/M4.

I saw the M4 in person and it looked like a lowered X5 to me. It was BIG!
