That new grill looks promising, especially with the lower portion having the slats flipped upside down. Makes it looks smaller and less fussy.

Glad to see them experimenting with the front.

I am a firm believer that the G8x CAN look better without tweaking too much of it. The big grille can work but needs something other than the horizontal slats on the base G8x, and something more like the M4 GT3 or this definitely helps.

I also wish there was a curtain fang or something on the lower sides of the bumper. Will be curious to see what changes LCI might bring too.

Wow, there are going to be more points of differentiation even compared to my CS and the normal F80.

New grill has potential, after market will copy it too for non-CS owners.

Most probably as this might be last M3/M4 which is not a hybrid / EV based. BMW would want to milk the most number of sales with different versions and special editions.

I can remember two distinct Versions of the BMW 3.0 CLS on showroom floors and a third track version. Sorry couldn't find free photos to down load. First sold version was rather tame update of the 3.0 without batwing and other aero stuff. The second had batwing and front spoiler, and front fenders small vertical shark fins. That version also did not have the light weight components. The track version was wild having all short of aero, engine and suspension mods and the most visual notable were the following light weight stuff: front dam, doors, wider front and rear fenders and the famous batwing.

My point is that the photos we are seeing now may not be a CSL or any close to being any CSL version. Maybe it's just hype for our fun.

Yep this is a big deal. Return of the classic M "A" shaped profile.

dont know if i get this right

CS= A special model with much better tuned chassis bits that results the a lot greater performance gain.

CSL= basically the lighter weight version of the CS, costly/special/limited. its like Porsche GT3 touring pack that deletes the rear wing.

GTS=track focused product, like GT3 RS more a track toy and less ideal for street use.

I like the thicker cross bars grills.

But a new M4 CLS with no M xDrive, it's no go. Got to have me some M xDrive!

The CSL is supposed to be more lightweight. AWD has unnecessary weight.

It’s not… CSL replaced what GTS was, but the idea of the progression is there. The CSL is the track focused consumer product that you are also able to drive on the street, we should expect pretty extreme aero components, roll cage, etc., similar to the F82 M4 GTS. The CS and Competition are still both track capable, but each tip the scales towards street drivability more and more. Everyone loves the GT3 p-car, as do I, but I have never been a fan of Porsche putting that nomenclature out there on a consumer car. BMW makes actual GT3 and GT4 race cars which are available to private teams as well, but they are much more exclusive than even a Porsche GT2 RS, they are not street legal, and they’re ready to go unlike a p-car that would take some more modifications to be competitive in the class.

I know it's suppose to be the ultimate weight saver but it'd be nice if a awd model does exist in the future.
