Freshly dirty Tanzanite Blue II G80 Competition

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Went into BMW of ******** to pick up some parts, and one of the sales guys took me into their back storage to show me the newly delivered G80 M3 Competition. It was dirty from the shakedown after delivery servicing, but holy crap was I surprised by the new Tanzanite II. I can't believe I haven't seen it yet, but I think that it is a great dark color for the G80. It looks really quite purple, only lighter and "bluer" when in the sun or direct light.

Check out the pics below. BTW, the front grilles really aren't that bad in person, seriously. North American plates would really look horrible. If you live where you have to have one, you may have to do one of those Euro shaped plates with your actual license plate number on it to get around it. Would love to see a G80 with the exterior carbon package in person. I really hope they sell the G81 in North America, because I will be putting down an order at whatever markup the dealer wants!

My camera picked up how the color looked in person pretty well I would say. I feel like they took Carbon Black and made the blue hues in it much brighter shades of purple/blue. Difficult to explain. Very dark blue/purple though. I personally really like it, subtle yet has a bit of character.

Agree! we have a Tanz M4 on the lot now and def is a great color on these. I was never really a huge fan of tanz, I like it, but not my top 3. However seeing this color with the orange interior def changed my mind. Its a great color!

With the Kylami? Interesting mix, I bet it does look good. When will the Individual program be available for G80 cars? Sales guy who showed me the car said many months, if not more, because of delays?

(Psst, anything down the drainpipe from BMWNA about a wagon in the future?)

People have already ordered individual exterior colors and have them in production (some even delivered already, Fire Orange). Interior wise, so far haven't read of anyone getting anything approved or one delivered yet.

As of now, no chance of the US getting the wagon from what has been reported on here.

Indiv is available, we have a few in process now! im sure indiv is very backed up with orders, they always are at launch with new models. Also there has been such a high demand in indiv orders over the past 5 years. So many people are trying to go that direction now when they can. Dont blame them, if you can do it, why not!

nothing in wagon

I saw it too on an M4 and it looks great. But TB is too dark for my taste.

Probleme with those dark blue is they don't look well with Black. color association of a car usually match regular color association. And dark blue and black is not good. Portimao is much lighter so it is beter. What i don't get is why they are only black wheels ? Some are off course grey and black, but none are full silver like ? that will change the look by a lot.

That's all entirely subjective. You're entirely free to think black and dark blue don't look good together as other people are free to think they do look good together.

I have seen the other day tanz blue on an 5 series.

If you think other colours are hard to capture in pics, this one is even worse.
In person it looks fantastic, especially when the sun hits it.

If you prefer a darker colour you don't do wrong taking this one, it is awesome !
For me it was too late to change, I would have picked it to be honest.

Very true! Scorp!on is right here, Tanzanite Blue II is super hard to capture properly in photos. My pics don't even capture it properly to be honest. Beautiful dark color! If you want a dark car and slight blue/purple shades, GET THIS COLOR! You will not be disappointed.

Imagining the painter is halfway through the first coat in the paint booth and and the guy who got the request form to change paint code sticks his head in and out, denied request!

What paint did you order your car in? Don't see many Swiss on here. Although 99% of the time I'm over on E90post with the other boomers.

Nice colour. Needs ceramic coating to avoid marks - see the Joe Achilles video about how easy it marks.

I had a m3 comp in TB. I will never buy that color again. Gets dirty and scratches way too easily
