Tested: M4 xDrive in the wet on track - incredible!

This is a great example of how fantastic the new M xDrive system is.

I'm driving with traction completely off, in 4WD Sport mode (although sometimes changed to 2WD for the hairpin), and the car is superb. Yes, I need to correct it but it is so controllable!

I love this car!

Do you have the M drive professional option? If so I’m wondering how or if the car will work in RWD mode (which turns off the traction control) can still use the 1-10 traction control setting. I would love to use RWD but still be able to have some type of traction control as well so I don’t end up crashing just cause I want to enjoy RWD

How do you get the track position and telemetry on your videos? My son is wanting to code an app for the nurburgring and we need this data.

Out of curiosity in rear wheel drive with traction control full engaged at 10 is it still possible to lose the rear wheels or will it be extremely difficult to lose traction?

RaceRender - excellent product. Just load the GoPro files and it handles the rest.

I just checked and you *can* set the traction (1 to 10) when DSC is off and set to RWD. I've not tested it though, only driven RWD with DSC off.

Nice, how's the steering accuracy and feel in the AWD version? Does the car feel heavier?

Good example of a typical summer day in Scotland too.

The range of capabilities this car has

Now when you have stressed the car with multiple launches and track sessions have the AWD system given you any pause that it’s too fragile for this kind of duty or does it so far feel solid to the point that you don’t think of it as something you need to baby or being a system you need to rest before other components go hot etc? In summary is it system that shorten the time and/or take away from the joy of tracking the car?

The control, the sound, and most importantly the torque delivery out of bends..... wow... and that's with stock output (I'm assuming).

This machine strides like an F90.

top speed on wet and dry is pretty similar... so are lap times most of the time pretty close... This car is almost as fast on the wet as dry, i can only imagine the RWD one would struggle much more in the wet.

No...only time it feels heavier is on the uphill straights. Steering feels good on track, but IMHO slightly less so on the road - F82 has slightly better steering on the road I feel. YMMV.
