M Intensive at Indy

What an amazing day! Indy on a hot day with great weather. What an experience. What an exhausting experience. Amazing instruction. I was shocked and delighted that they will take you as fast as your group can keep up. Every M I drove (2/3/4/5) was incredible. Would highly recommend.

Nice!!!

Running at speed on the banking must be a special experience. You look like you had a great fun, well done!

When were you there?

I attended yesterday, April 28th, and make some comments in another thread ("Anybody here attended a track event at Indy?") that I started before I attended. That thread was initially in the general form (my bad) but has now been moved here.

There is essentially no bank on the sections of Indy that count for this! [9 degrees elsewhere, but not where one hits max mph in these BMW events.] The portions of the track used are just under 2.5 miles, so one can accomplish a lot without a bank (e.g., ~155 mph when maxed out doing full laps). This makes Indy all the more fun and dramatic!

Similarly, Thermal and Spartanburg (as I understand) have no banking.

In contrast, NASCAR type oval tracks (e.g., California Speedway, aka Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.; which can optionally combine the oval with an interior road course; or Daytona: 31 degrees, Talledega: 33 degrees) have considerable banking and 155 mph is reachable in much smaller ovals (175+ mph is possible at Fontana in M3/4/5/6s if the speed governor is set appropriately).
