Just received my LCi tails via FedEx. I’m a little disappointed with BMW for missing the clear wrap on one of my outside tail lights. Not the dealers fault I purchased them from, as they were sealed in the factory boxes. This is purely BMWs fault, but, one is going to need some plastic polish on the outer lens. Kind of pisses me off, but, this is easily fixable. It’s not worth waiting for a new one. It’ll take another 2-3 weeks. The other 3 pieces have the clear cellophane over them. This was just rolled up in the factory bag. Tape sealed from the factory.

Any video of the startup flicker? Mine are supposedly booked for a flight over from Germany so hopefully not long until I join the party. Will be selling my vinyl design ones for a hefty discount if anyone is interested. They work perfectly fine but couldn't pass up on the real thing

Congrats on getting them! Shame on BMW though, I don't understand how this could happen? I could maybe see the plastic wrap missing, but these clearly look like someone attempted to wipe them down with a dirty rag! Agree with you though, it's not worth the hassle of waiting for a new one.

The other 3 had the screen protector cellophane over them. This one was just sitting in the bag, so, I’d say with all of the movement in shipping. They easily traveled 10k miles to get to my house. They just have some swirl marks on them. They probably look worse than they are, because the flash really highlighted the scratches. But, they are definitely swirled.

These lights look good on darker colors. Should be nice on Tanz Blue 2.

There is a good chance it happened at customs too. Sorry that happened to you though, such a bummer. Let us know how the restoration turns out and what you ended up using.

I’m sure they’ll be good on Dravit. I haven’t seen them on Dravit yet.

They were taped inside the factory boxes that had German writing all over them. But, it’s possible that’s the only one they pulled out and inspected.
I’m planning on using a white Rupes pad and some Sonax Perfect finish. That should do it.

This stuff will buff out. I have bought OEM lights for various autos from a guy who does this daily. They can sand down old hazed up plastic, buff and re-clear coat, or tint. These you have are totally minute abrasion(s) and will buff out nicely before 9h. If you buff them installed, 3m blue tape around the circumference so you do not distort PPF, 9h on bodyworks etc. It is an easy job for detailwerkz in Dallas. One of my lights was unwrapped and has light abrasions. German/US Customs sounds about right.

I’m not worried about them at all. It’s easy enough to hold in one hand and hit them with the polisher in the other. White Rupes pad and Sonax will take care of it. I use the same combo to take the scratches out of the plastic gauge cluster lens on my other cars. Looks brand new.

You need to compare it very closely to the other one on the other side. Not the second part of the same side, but the opposite side. Put them next to each other and inspect metal color of screws, color of plastics, etchings and part number fonts on either one. If they are not mirror images of each other, it’s possible someone played the old ordered new BMW ones and swapped in their knockoff plastics and did a return. Maybe the boxes got mixed around and you got 3 legit parts and one bogus one. I hope not and maybe it’s something else, but I’d certainly check super close just in case. It’s like that bullshit where people would buy a new HomePod 2 from Bestbuy and then return a HomePod 1 back to them for a refund and then the next person buying an open box item and getting a surprise when they got home.

I guess anything is possible, but, these are 2025 model. And since I acquired the part number, and had them checked for stock, BMW dropped 30 sets to their warehouse in Germany, and I ordered set number 1 and then posted the part numbers on here, where 2-3 others have now ordered and received theirs. So, as much as this tail light isn’t in the best shape, these just became available to sell, about 2 weeks ago. I’m not sure who would have bought one US tail light, overnighted it from Germany, and then overnighted it back for me to order the first set in the warehouse.
Is it possible? Maybe, but these are the odds.

Doesn’t really matter in the end. Install it already and enjoy it. It’s going to scratch over time anyway… who cares.

They said at my BMW dealer’s that startup and fading off are flickering because of different current flowing, should be DC and is AC or something.. and they won’t code it to me because bmw forbided such actions and they need to put another wire from fuse box…
