Agreed that the S58 has been out on the X3/4Ms for a bit, but they're produced in small quantities, and still relatively new. I doubt dealer techs have done major engine work at this point (though I believe there was a con rod issue on the S58 in the X3/4Ms in the past)

Not the news I wanted to wake up to. Production for my car completed 7/20 so I guess I'm affected by this...

Wonder if this affects already delivered cars? Recall incoming?

My car was built during the month of July, but there's no open recall as of yet.

I hope everyone realized the extent of the work if they are truly opening the engines up and not simply replacing them. There is just so much to go wrong, and I can promise you, they do not have experience doing this scale of work on the S58, dealer techs almost never get this deep into an engine. Typically when its main bearing failure, its engine R&R.

I looked up my VIN on the UK BMW recall page and sure enough it shows the open recall now. US page does not yet.

This has me really bummed out.

Sorry for those affected, I am guessing you will be recalled soon.

Could this explain why some week 39 and week 40 builds are stuck in QC for a number of days?
our car (G82) was finished production and was awaiting carrier on 9/9. this says that end production date for this issue is 9/7. did we get lucky?

Which page are you using to check if your car is affected by it? I'm in the US.

What does it say exactly? I just entered mine, and this is what it said. Those two are probably the RAM and cameras. What does it say if your engine has this issue?

There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement codes 0065480300, 0066570100.

Just checked mine on the UK site as well since US site doesn't show yet. I'm right there with ya. This sucks.

You'd think they could figure out bearings after 20 years of issues...

How do you know STOP021954 is the engine issue?

Looks like we got lucky. Only code I see is 0065480300. I'm guessing that's the RAM stop sale.

Yes I just checked mine. 0065480300 is for RAM stop sale. You can see it in Chrome's dev tool (open the website and press F12)

I'm guessing that too, but I'd prefer to know! My G83 was produced well outside the dates listed in the bulletin, but I'd like a confirmation.

Another thought. I wonder how real time this UK recall database is? You think we can monitor it to determine when our RAM and cameras are installed?

The "STOP021954" code seems to be related to the engine. Other codes are most likely RAM, camera, etc.

I fall right within that G80 time period with a production date of 9/10/21. On the UK site it shows this:

"There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement codes 0065480300, 0066570100."

Nothing on the US site yet.
