I've been searching for one that doesn't contain too much 'metal.' Temps here in FL are brutal in the Summer, and metal knobs get really hot. Cobb used to make one for the STi, that wasn't metal, but, I didn't like the look of it so kept the stock one on that car. I don't have much seat time with the 'stock' M3 knob...so, will have to give it some time once I have my car to determine what I'll prefer.

So, if anyone has links to ones that don't get too hot, feel free to post them!

Quick Question: Firstly my M3 is still on the boat getting here, but i wanted to know is there a thread pitch for the aftermarket shift knobs or is it a screw in place type deal

It doesn't really get very hot where I live and I have ceramic tints. Even on the hottest day it was not bat at all. The Alcantara on it helps too.

Good to know. Here, it gets to 105f/~40c degrees. Even the leather is hot!

Custom made gear shift. I refurbished an old E or F series shifter that I got on eBay. Made the carbon fiber palm rest. Local shop did the alcantara boot.

Honestly waiting for someone (it'd be cool if it were just BMW) to make an aftermarket 3.0 CSL shift knob. That thing is slick.

I ordered the F10 M5 Illuminated ZHP weighted shifter. Waiting for a new g80 boot to arrive and then will install. Excited to get it done.

Nice! I like the look of that. Reminds me of Honda-style OEM shift knobs. Is that the hydro shift knob? And how is the feeling of shifting?

Redid my knob and boot using the f8x offering from Ind and mated to my g8x ring. Matches the stitching on the armrest and interior better than the silver mperformance I previously had.
