In EU the DRL stays white unless you turn your beams on… I’ve just checked some US reviews and seems they behave the same…

This is correct. DRL is white if you do not turn your lights on. The yellow DRLs are only legal with the lights turned on as well.

Yellow DRL are also legal… many people have already done this mod by switching the DRL board modules on their regular M3/M5/M8/X5M/X6M so DRL stays always yellow even with the lights off

My US car can do yellow DRLs with the car running and the main beams off.

I thought that was the whole point. They are yellow DRLs. Not just yellow lights under headlights.

I don’t understand why the Kia Telluride can have bright amber DRLs but this different shade of yellow is illigal.

I get that amber is already used in the headlights/signals so perhaps it’s less distracting to oncoming drivers but still wish the yellows stayed on DRL from factory.

Where did you get it from that yellow DRL are illegal? As far as I’m aware white and yellow are LEGAL

In Europe? No. Not without the normal (white) lights turned on as well.
Mods are illegal.

The UK? I don't have a clue. I doubt it is legal since the CLS has the same setup in the UK.

CLS? This wouldn't be legal in Europe.

Well the way BMW made the set up is so that the DRL’s are white. And yellow when beams on. That’s how it’s intended to work on all CS/CSL’s.

I did read somewhere that yellow daytime running lights are illegal. Could have been a factory BMW doesn’t have the DRLS alone as yellow.

I think what is legal is warm white and white.

I don’t get the hype about the yellow DRL. Everyone wanted blue or xenon back in the 90s while everyone had yellow or white headlights.

Yes, yellow DLRs when the white beams are on...this is indeed legal.

Out of the 50 shades of yellow, it would be great to get some picture of the interior and the first impression.
