Self-service gas in NJ?
Coming in from out-of-state and staying at my family's in NJ for the summer.
What do you guys in NJ do when you get gas? I grew up here and know that most attendants couldn't care less. Overfilling the tank, spilling gas all over the side, letting the cap hang all over the paint, over-torqueing the cap etc. Thoughts? As a general principle it just feels weird to me having randoms touch my car.

All the more reason to treasure the things/people we care about and exercise control in those aspects of life where we can. Also, I think you missed the part where I drove my G80 3,000 miles from LA to NJ to be with family for a while lol. That's #1 on my list. |

I pump my own gas. I came to realize the more you use a particular station, you can get away with such things. The one station i use, the guy already knows all the cars i drive. When i pull up, he just nods his head and goes and attends another car lol.
Although on the rare occasion when i show up and it's a different dude working, like someone completely new, they freak out when i try to do it myself. But i still do it myself anyway. |

I go to the same Sunoco station by my house whenever possible and the attendants know me and allow me to pump my own gas. I also have a Sunoco fleet account so I need to input mileage, driver id etc into the pump anyway.

I always pump my own. I can't imagine anyone giving you a hard time about it.

About 2 weeks ago 75 gas stations around the state went full self serve so people would see the price difference. There was a bill or something about allowing self serve in the state government, but it didn't get through.
