So if i'm reading this correctly this means we're getting a regular M4 coupe AND an M4 competition - as opposed to the pre-LCI where we only got the M4 COMP right?

Which market are you in? If the manual M4 (i.e. the base or regular one) was available pre-LCI, it probabaly will be available as LCI and vice-versa.

The M240i is an M (Performance) car, deal with it. And the carbon roof has been an option for the M340i for a while now, at least in some markets, so this is nothing new.

Looking at the Swedish BMW builder site, it still says 3.5 sec 0-100 kmh (i.e. same as the pre LCI).
Shouldn´t the additional ~20 hp reduce that number?

About as M as Loose Vutton is to Louis Vuitton.

Whatever makes the buyers happy but they’re not getting any respect from the true ///M fan club.

And it’s going to be exactly how the M340i folk look at base, no-option 330i. So they can relate indirectly.

They keep diluting the brand but also keep raising the prices along the way. I hate to see what it will look like in 3 or 4 years from now.

So this LCI has me chuckling.

A year ago we took delivery of a '23 Cayenne. Pre-refresh. I had been waiting for the refresh for a while (we have a '14 Cayenne). First I thought it would be '22 model year. Then '23. When that didn't happen, I really was getting to the point of not wanting to wait any longer. And by that time, enough leaks had happened where you could infer about 80% of what was going to happen with the refresh. The significant pieces could be deduced from the spy shots: the new dash, the new front bumper, new steering wheel, etc. We took a good hard look at what was coming and said "sometimes known quantity is better than an unknown promise". More plainly said "bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". We knew what was out, and more importantly, I know that Porsche does continual improvements and that the '23 would be pretty perfected by then. The refresh probably will suffer from incremental updates over the 4 years or so it's on sale, and I didn't want to wait. So we pulled the trigger.

In the end, we found ourselves in the same position as with this LCI. Some of the changes are nice, we like them. Some of the changes we don't like. The LCI is nice, but in the end I have zero Regerts that I bought either of them.

For this car, I'm not sure what the M3 will bring with the taillights but it would be cool to have the laser lights. The front lights I don't like. Steering wheel don't like. Center vent don't like. iDrive 8.5; my time with it is limited to 5 minutes in dealer showroom on a new x4 but reports are it's better so that probably would have been nice. Extra power...don't care. Even it if is legit (and I think it's just a re-rate and the two will probably perform identically) it's not enough to matter for me. I got the color and wheels I like, wouldn't have changed that. I love the fact people are geeking over the all silver wheels. We have come full circle!

So yeah, LCI guys enjoy the new toys. Pre-LCI guys I don't think we missed out on anything super important.

This is correct. With full learned, the entire dash and door tops are learned.

The Sensatacky dash is for non-full leather only.

I only typically keep my cars for three years, and I’m at the end of year two right now. None of the changes to the LCI really affect me one way or the other (I don’t even mind the headlights), at least as much as the change to iD8 did. I’m not a fan, but have accepted that if I ultimately stick with a BMW, and that’s highly likely, that’s the way it is.

At this point, I’m trying to decide if I want another year and order something, or try and pick up something in 112 and make a deal on it. I’m leaning on waiting.

yeah, I would wait. No sense getting a new car that's both 1. Very similar to yours and 2. Outdated. Might as well get the latest and greatest if you're doing another one.

Agreed. I expect Chris Harris to make a negative comment on this. He's not right about everything, but his opinion on steering wheels being round is something I agree with, especially in a car that likes to slide around.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's actually nice to know where the bottom of the wheel is?

Top of the dash is walknappa leather, bottom part merino leather. Reason that the top part isn’t merino is because of the heat resistance.

If you park in the sun, I would always recommend a sun blanket to protect the dash from extreme warmth.

Flat bottom wheel is "racecar" because racecars 1. don't have very much lock or use it that often and 2. are cramped and need more legroom for the driver who is usually feet high / a@@ low for better weight.

I've owned cars with flat bottom wheels and while they do provide me with a little egress room, I'd just as soon have the full round.

Get off my lawn.

Congrats, you fell for the M\\arketing and are BMWs target demographic when they slap M badges over everything. What is an "M (Performance)" car anyway?

I was always under the impression it wasn’t merino. Did some research online again, and at least for the F generation, the dash (upper instrument panel) and the door panel tops are actually Nappa (“Walknappa” - assuming Nappa). The lower instrument panel may or may not be merino - probably color dependent.

The leather there definitely feels different and more plastic / resilient / less “absorbent” than the merino in the seats. I assumed Sensatec, could be Nappa, but I doubt it’s merino.

I don't think anyone else has noticed this yet. If you look at picture 62/82, it appears they changed the M4 Comp rear badging. Seems they added a white/silver outline around the M4 badge itself, versus being all black like they are now.

Noticed that too. I liked the all black, but this should look alright. Interested to see it on a black car as I like how my badge is almost hidden.

Not exactly like the M4. The middle of the slats are hollowed out. Feels like they wanted to go more M4-ish, but didn't fully commit, so it just looks unfinished. But I agree on the dilution.
