The dude is like the Bimmerpost resident BMW insider source. If he’s providing those numbers I’d say that is about as close as you are going to get without having a BMW PR rep give them to you.

Still don’t buy it, BMW is going to take 13 years of data where the coupe sells 4:1+ more than the sedan and just say… no, this is the gen that the sedan is king. Also, according to cars.com and car gurus.com there’s more than 2:1 M4 vs M3 available.

M3 is far less likely to trade/flip quickly, especially given the wait times people have had to endure to order. M4 is a lifestyle vehicle. Read: not a necessity. I drive my m4 daily, and so do plenty of others but again, as many of us have stated, there is a larger market of m3 buyers of this generation than m4. Especially compared to prior generations, especially now that XDrive is on offer. The demographics have changed with this generation. BMW is pulling folks from Audi and other makes more than before due to the wide spread of abilities and usability. There are literal thousands of people coming into the G8X platform where they were previously alienated due to the (perceived) need for AWD. Your 13 years of historical data (e9x, F8X) does not apply.

I was an Audi guy for nearly 2 decades due to my preference for AWD in a high performance daily driver living in a cold state. I agree that the g8x has helped with BMW conquest from Audi, MB etc. also it’s sheer size and price gain have pushed it into baby M5 catagory. |

The actual production numbers are approximately 2:1 (F82/F83 : F80).

SickFinga's numbers are correct. Until a few years ago, we used to cooperate; we had complementary interests. I know his methods and even use some of his tools. His data matches mine. That random article about F82s, otoh, is way off. There were ~57K F82s made, and ~20K F83s.
Note that if you add these numbers and the 34K of F80s, you do get the 111K stated in the article. |

When you factor the entire 3/4-series lineup, it's just as broad as the 911.

BMW is not an exclusive brand like Ferrari or Lamborghini. Don’t expect much, all modern BMWs will depreciate, just at different rates.

So will it be new hp plus the 43?
Curious if vs current xdrive M4 comp it would then be up like 70hp combined with less weight should mean solid mid to high 10s in quarter. |

Not anymore, the EV revolution will take over, these older cars will start to loose value. Nothing stays the same. The new generation doesn’t value them, they like EVs and tech, and folks like you are not gonna be there forever to pay premium. Just being realistic!

This is also probably why so many people sell so many of these cars so quick w low mileage... especially now since few can be test driven.
