7ME M Driver’s Package Option

Can somebody share what all is included with this option? Is it worth it?

Thanks

Raises the speed limiter from 155 to 180mph and includes a free 1-day at the performance center.

I think 99% of people would say no. I optioned it though, mostly because I was checking every option (except CCBs and buckets).

Its a liiiitle higher than 169, but, yes, they have an M Drivers Track day on the track calendar. Its more like a half a day. You can put it toward an upgrade for a higher package at the track. And the speed limiter bump, said to be at 184. I almost got there, but, I ran out of runway. Also, keep in mind, over 150mph, the car wont shift into 8th gear, by design.

I'm going to second this, but at the same time say it was worth it to me.

You're basically paying $750 to increase the speed limiter. The other $1750 pays for the 1-day M School.

With that said, there are only two ways to increase the speed limiter above 155: M Driver's Package or unlock the ECU and get a tune.

Why was it worth it to me? Because if you do not get the M Driver's Package there is absolutely no way to retrofit it. Of course, in hindsight I shouldn't have done it because I ended up tuning my car anyway, but at the time I didn't think that I was going to do that.

TL;DR - If you plan on unlocking and tuning the ECU you absolutely SHOULD NOT get the M Driver's Package. If you do not plan on unlocking and tuning the ECU, it is the only way to increase the speed limiter.

I think BMW officially says 180 (169 was wrong) but yeah seems to be a little higher than 180 regardless.

In BMWs format, “I believe” it’s written as 296kmh.

Thanks all for the feedback. I expect I will have the car tuned at some point like I have on 3 previous vehicles.

I didn't option this because I don't plan to take the car over 155mph. I've done the BMW M track days and they are awesome. I sign up for one when I want to flog a car.

You need to send the ECU out to be flashed. A JB4 or Racechip won’t remove the limiter.

Sounds like you can save yourself some money that can be put towards a tune.

To verify, I've reached the restricted top speed of my car on track which on the car speedo read at 255 KPH, about 158 MPH.

However, the reading from my Racebox indicated 250 KPH on the dot, which is 155 MPH.
