Active Autowerke v Valvetronic equal length exhaust systems

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the two, which is actually better and why?

I understand the EL gives you a deeper smoother tone? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I have a g80 M3CS in order and this is the ONLY mod I’ll be doing this time round, so I want to make sure it’s the correct one.

I also have that question. Leaning toward the Active Autowerkes EL but not sure what back box I want to pair with it.

Tone, design, price, and quality are different. AA is US-made and has a higher standard of fabrication. Valvetronic seems to have more of a VQ motor sound than AA. AA requires cuts to the midpipe (not sure about Valvetronic). I went with AA and am glad I did. Quality definitely seems to be superior.

EL certainly gives a deeper, smoother tone, and helps eliminate rasp - regardless of which company you go with.

What do you mean by VQ motor sound?

If I had a penny for every time a slammed infinity tried to race me… I would have gotten my AA equal length for free 🤣

The main difference is the style. AA is an X pipe whereas Valvetronic is a single midpipe. I’m not a fan of the single midpipe design so I’ll be going with AA, it’s all personal preference though. I don’t think there is any data to support one being objectively better than the other.

He is comparing both of their equal length options, not the X-pipe or single pipe style. Either way, I’m glad there are so many options for us to choose from

What I meant by X pipe vs. single is the AA only has one crossover point but the Valvetronic merges into a single pipe after the downpipes.

I'm running AA's catted downpipes, the AA EL midpipe, and the AWE Track edition axleback/rear section. The soundtrack is unreal. If you check my post history I've been posting some clips of the setup recently.

I look at some of your videos, you went for the loud all the time setup. Car sounds mean.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It's definitely on the louder side, but the tone is just amazing. Love the way it sounds now. My wife... not so much.

How do you know the quality definitely seems superior?

It may be, but anything backing that up, materials testing… user reports?

Or is it just, you like what you have and are now saying it’s better?

I heard that valvetronic is just sourcing alibaba stuff and rebranding it, and that it rusted for a guy in about 6months and the company offered him a discount instead of a replacement / refund.

So, I’m no VT fanboi but would like to know if you had some actual info or if that was just your guess.

Weird comment, as the valvetronic midpipe without any other change to exhaust sounds way better than AA. That is why so many people over looked the rust and alibaba rumors and took a risk.

You saying it sounds better than AA full system? Or just better than AA equivalent mid pipe ?

I think EL midpipe for midpipe that valvetronic sounds better than AA. But I don’t know if I can over look the issues with valve. So might just go AA midpipe anyway.

There are rumors that AA sources their midpipe from the same place Valvetronic does.
Some people pointed out some similarities in the welds and noticed AA doesnt say the midpipe is made in Miami like a lot of their other products.

For real.
How hard is it to get confirmation.
I guess the companies not saying anything is confirming that it’s all alibaba parts.

Valvetronic stuff does sound amazing though.
