doesn't look naked with those plastic seat covers
We did front end/headlights/mirrors PPF on my wife's SUV, and within 2 months someone hit the front bumper in a parking lot. White vehicle - red paint transfer. The red paint literally wiped off with bug and tar remover. It would have cost more to repaint the bumper than we paid for the PPF. Not to mention, we do 80% highway miles in the Northeast where the paint will get hammered. Regarding the G80, for special paint colors I don't see why you wouldnt wrap it. Regardless of how good the paint shop is, paint never matches 100%. Shit it doesnt match between the bumpers metal body panels from the factory with certain colors. I'll be doing full PPF, ceramic tint, and ceramic coated interior when mine comes in.

The doors, trunk and rear quarters are all steel on the G80. Also, Aluminum oxidizes too. |

One is the original from factory, clear - just got it out of winter storage. Keeps dirt /dust off.
The other a Wurth reusable soft cover OWGE900100I put on when it goes for service [ Had an incident in the garage on Easter Sunday, where I had GE LED tubes in my fluorescent 48 inch fixtures x three, in the garage. They burned at a fairly bright 5500 temperature, and I thought they were a huge easy upgrade over the old fluorescent tubes in the garage. I had them up for a couple years in the original fixtures from 1998. I thought it was an easy conversion, and they ran cool and bright . Until Sunday that is…. my wife ran up to me outside and said the garage smells like something is on fire. I run in and she says it smells like a burnt marshmallow and I frantically check lithium batteries, battery tenders sniff around the cars, in the trunks and the batteries, and I found nothing. a new compressor was unplugged so I could not find the source for the life of me as I was trying not to panic. My daughter comes into the garage after flipping on the ceiling lights and the middle one was not on. I didn’t think it was strange, because often humidity will prevent some of the fluorescent tubes from lighting up if it’s really humid out in the summer. However, it was a perfectly arid day with nice sun, so I thought it was odd. Suddenly one tube lit up, and the other did not, and it promptly began to release a crackling sound with dense smoke, and I hurriedly shut off the light switch I found the source and it smelled terrible. When it started to smoke it almost caught fire - the ballast as I discovered later; had to pull all vehicles out of the garage and drive them for a bit to heat them up properly. With them in the driveway, I proceeded to get the ladder and replace every fixture with an LED model from Home Depot. Thank God I was here when it happened —- I travel a lot so this was fortunate……. and a heads up to any of you guys that are running LED tubes in a fixture meant for fluorescents. I don’t think they like it. Could’ve been a tragic ending.] Sorry about long anecdote— just thought I would share if it helps any of you.

Doors seem steel to me, as others stated they’re magnetized. You sure they are aluminum?

Please….. It’s not that simple
Fragile Leather interior- prevention with errant techs vs. exterior, where PPF is like a condom that is not user serviceable

Your car, your choices. But, you seemed to have such a strong opinion about PPF (prevention of errant materials as the car is exposed essentially all the time) but protect the seats when it’s in storage for the winter and when it’s in for service? Let’s not bring reason into this conversation. |

he offered PPF for the hood and front bumper for free. Yes, as in $0. It was a goodwill gesture because they messed up my order somehow caused a 2 months delay. When the delay was originally discovered, they offered me free window tint as goodwill gesture.(this was back in December) Anyway, he said it would also give me a chance to consider doing PPF on the rest of the car at a later date. I plan to accept this, since I don't really want window tint, free or otherwise. If only the front bumper and the hood have PPF, will the paint age differently than the rest of the car after 5 to 7 years? Thanks! |

No.
I have a 07 GT3RS that the prior owner did full PPF. I hate it!!! No way to polish it. I would remove it but I’m afraid the paint will come off with it. It looks horrible especially with Poloarized sun glasses. Give me some normal surface imperfections any day. My M4 is new to me for two weeks. I’ve been through 4 automated car washes. It’s a BMW not a Lamborghini. 🤣 |
