Theoretically it could be removed either way. I went under the car, and used a pick tool to pry the grommet out (not into the battery compartment) and caught it as it popped out.

So is there some like "gap" between the battery compartment and the back of the car where the grommet is? Just wondering what you were referring to with the "black abyss" comment.

Hopefully yours continues to stay that way!
On his car the controller barely works, very inconsistent |

There is a black plastic cubby on the other side of the grommet, bottom of the car. It's the spot where most people mount the controller if not in the trunk, there's a bunch of youtube videos of people installing the dahler one there. I called it the "black abyss" because it only has an opening on the top and you can't see inside of it. If you drop the grommet in there, you'll have remove bunch of screws to remove said compartment to find the grommet.

It came today and just got done installing. Took about 45 minutes including jacking up car and cleaning up. I installed from what I remember Kies doing in their video. I already had Dinan midpipe so that helps also. Did quick run around block and sounds good, will go for longer drive this weekend, but thinking this is what I'm looking for. Thanks mike@x-ph.com

I got this installed yesterday, ~ 30 minutes taking my time. With ceramic tint, no issues with the remote function. I have not paired it to my HomeLink yet, but the remote is very responsive. I threw away the document that mentions the remote functions and found it. Here it is for anyone who was in the same boat as me.

Ordered thru x-ph and took a week to deliver. Probably the easier thing you will ever install lol. And thanks to install photos in here, got the module placed next to the battery 👍🏽
