Yo man, what are you doing to the garage? I need some ideas! I'm at a blank slate right now.

Best recommendations I can give in order from personal garage experience:

1) Paint the walls if finished. Otherwise finish with drywall
2) as much overhead storage space as you can use. Try to eliminate as much as you can from the floor area.
3) Some type of floor covering like epoxy.
4) Enclosed shelving (gives a clean look)
5) Rogue foldable squat racks save hella space if you have weight equipment in garage.

I joined this forum to work on a BMW and now I'm being influenced to spruce up my garage!

I've done most of the above right now. The full flake epoxy flooring and drywall with paint was just done.

I currently have storage racks, and added a side mount garage door opener for the 3rd door, but haven't finished the roof as I am either looking to add a lift or some sort of storage system up top.

ProSlat all the way around, with white in the middle and charcoal for a smaller strip top and bottom. Covering the upper 6' of the available vertical 8', and then debating on diamond plate or just leaving it drywall for the bottom 2'.

I'm getting their tire rack for my spare tires, a bunch of the ProBins for all the random bottle storage (cleaners, oil, whatever), their 20 piece hook kit, their kayak J hook kit, and I forget what else. Basically the surfboards, snowboards, backpags, paddleboard, storage bins, etc will all be on the slatwall. Shop vac will be the only thing really remaining on the ground besides the trash / recycling bin.

This will free up almost 3 feet of space horizontally, should be enough to park the bike and still be able to walk around everything. And removing the upper shelves at the back in favor of slatwall means we should even be able to open the tailgate on the 4runner without issue.

As for lighting - 6 LED 4-foot bars on the ceiling, plus 4 on the sides. Going to tie the sides into the garage door and the overhead to a switch, so only 4 will come on automatically but I'll be able to turn on all 10 if I want to. Might be overkill we'll see. I can daisy chain them easily so I may only need 4 and 4 instead of 6 and 4.

Not going to touch the floor just yet, but leaning towards SwissTrax for that. Should help keep the dust down.

Will be my second car ever, after getting my license last year. Got a M440 in April, but could not stand it being M-Lite. So I’ll sell it when the G82 arrives.

I’ll park it on the street, use it as a daily, wash it only when my wife complains about it, drive no matter what weather.

Being a watch geek I have watches worth more than the M4CX, which I used as daily beaters. The car will be treated the same way.

But have to admit, I really admire those who keep their cars and other stuff in pristine condition.
You could have just said, I am rich. I don’t care if it gets damaged. I’ll buy another.

We would have understood you just as well.

Anyway, mine will see about 2500 miles a year simply because I don’t drive much and half the time I’ll drive the cayman.

My last car, 340i, I had 5 years and it ended being sold with 24k miles, and that was the only car I had at the time.

If I had to do a 9-5, I’d just pick another car. Pointless to waste your money driving a $100k car in traffic.

Unless you have watches more expensive than your car, then who gives a shit.

Mine is a garage queen. I got my 23’ M4 in October 2022 and have driven 2K miles so far. This is mainly because I do have a daily driver and I am keeping the M4 as a fun weekend car. I don’t take it out in bad weather and do a rinseless wash in my garage every 2-3 weeks. It’s ceramic coated but not PPF’d.

The main reason I do not use it for the work commute is to avoid all the un-necessary comments and judgements from my colleagues. People judge you for spending 100K on a car but they don’t know your life style. They don’t know that I live frugally otherwise and end up saving/investing upto 30-40% of my good enough salary.

I agree that my G82 has gotten so many comments/attention from people on the roads (much more than my previous F82). I have recently moved to a different state with a new job. I plan to drive it more often.

My girl isn’t a garage queen but I’ll admit that I’ve been driving my daughter’s car since I returned from a 1500 mile trip. She’s all cleaned up again and I haven’t had it in me to get it dirty.

I’m also wanting to condition my seats and pondering what to do about damaged PPF on my hood.

Edit: I also guilt tripped my BIL into letting me park in his garage when possible hail was inbound. He didn’t want to move his ping pong table.

I disagree! I have a 9-5 so to speak and enjoy driving my car every day. I smile every time I get in the car. Sure there is depreciation, but I’d rather enjoy driving the car every day!

oh she may be a queen in the garage but by no means held to queen status outside. Rain? Yup! Snow? Yup! Stupid ice storm that left everything covered in 2” of solid freeze? Yup? had to test X-Drive.

Last cars and coffee guy says “soo cool that you got matte wheels to match the matte paint”. lololol nope. that’s the only part of the car I haven’t washed in 3 months because these wheels are so f’n annoying to clean and they were completely covered in brake dust. The rest of the car was spotless.

No PPF and no intentions of getting it done.

She’s definitely the life of the party no matter where we go.

I have been trying for a while now to figure out what the tracks on your garage wall are, other than Laguna Seca. Gorgeous design though. Willing to share?

Right top is Thunderhill, and right middle is Sears Point (I refuse to call it anything else!)

Left top is Laguna, and left middle is Buttonwillow.

All in Northern CA with the exception of Buttonwillow.

22 months in. Trying not to get rid of it. I still like it when I drive it, but the glitz and glamour is starting to wear off.

Wow a mention on Fernley! I've done many track days there way back when they first opened around 2008! Too bad it all ended too soon

Ok. This is normal. You are getting used to the car. But, tell me, what would you buy to replace it that does as good of a job as a GT and performance car? I’m hard pressed to think of anything that’s as good as this car, front end notwithstanding, at any price point.

I drive all my cars even during winter. Got a set of winter wheels except for my GT3 which I only drive if the temp > 45C.

Bentley Flying Spur, Panamera GTS, almost any Aston Martin. I’ll take the Valhalla 😆

45C? Wow. It's been that hot in parts of Texas recently.

Ok. Perhaps I wasn’t specific enough. When I said any price point, I meant cars that are comparable in size and class. The cars you mentioned, while great choices, are really outside the spectrum that I was thinking due to size and class of car.
