Hello everybody, don’t mean to rehash the 911 vs M car conversation but instead I wanted to be very specific to the cars I’m comparing. I totally understand that perhaps it really isn’t a comparison , the cars are truly totally different, nonetheless I want to solicit your opinions.

I have the opportunity to buy either one of these cars but not both. Money isn’t growing on trees for me unfortunately. These are obviously drastically different cars, but believe it or not in my area (Los Angeles) the prices of these two are relatively comparable (ADM included).

To give everyone context i really love the G80 platform, I am a previous owner of a 22 M3CX, which replaced my 2021 C2S that was rear ended and lost only 6 months into my ownership. Owned a 991.2T before that, F87 and F82 before that.

Space and practicality isn’t really an issue, this car will be a weekend warrior for me, but I am really trying to determine which one will be the better car to drive considering how great the G80 turned out to be.

Tough decision, but it has to be made.

Former 992 owner here. Isn’t there a $30k-40k price delta between the two? Unless you’re getting a super barebones T which in that case there is still a huge cost difference between the two.

I specced a g80 Xdrive to around 90k where I’m thinking you’d have to spec the T to 130k+.

My vote goes to the T unless you want it to be more practical and then I’d go with a g80. I’m going with the g80 Xdrive in my situation because I’m saving $, it’s more practical, full of tech, AWD, and I can treat it like a regular car. In an ideal world the g80 would be the daily and the 911 would be the fun weekend car but like you said, money doesn’t grow on trees .

I used to live in LA so: which car would bring the bigger smile on Angeles crest during the weekend.

Thanks. The 911T would cost me around 137K MSRP, the M3 CS is around 134(5)ish MSRP with special paint and CCBs optioned.

I had this exact choice and picked M3 CS. I’ll always take a gamble on a special M car as a 911 is ultimately like other 911s.

If M3cs is anything like a M5cs, i would pick that. But if you have to take a decision now without knowing how M3cs drives, i would go with the 911T especially for a weekend vehicle.

Buying a car that you’ve essentially already owned doesn’t make sense to me. Throw in that you want this to be weekend car and it’s an easy decision. But I wouldn’t get a new T either.

An M3CS is AWD with 543 HP and 479 foot lbs of torque.

It would absolutely destroy and annihilate a 911 T.

I’d bet the suspension is retuned to make it even more spectacular

If im in a 911 and I see an M3CS I know I don’t have a snowball chance in hell staying remotely close to the M3CS

Hell a Carrera S can’t hang with a standard M3 Competition never mind an XDrive.

M3CS also weighs 700lbs more. Going fast in a straight line is for EVs. I want to go fast in the turns.
OP, I was in a similar predicament and went with a 911T. The M3 was too much of a compromise for a weekend/fun car, IMO.

My T entered production a couple days ago!

I have a 23 911c2s MT…Also have an M3CS FW being built. I am so much in love with my 911 and very excited to get my M3CS as well.

911s are in a totally different category. The feel and way it drives and engages with you is spectacular. The new manuals are also a bliss if you are into MT. You can rev it up in 1st all the way to red line and shift to 2nd instantly without any slip/jerk and it picks up the shift smoothly and stays planted so well. Same is with down shift as well, so amazing. It’s like magic. They hold their value really good as well.

Saying that M3CS is the best special DD family car with strong performance aspects and will check all the boxes, if not check all the boxes the best. For the price it gives you much in return. Am sure it will be a great build.

Net-Net, If you need a true family DD with very strong performance go with M3CS. If it’s not a family DD you are looking for, but a special DD sports car with lot of spirit and magic go with 911T or C2S (for more power). It can never be a GT3 though. Either way I would not make a decision based on 0-60.

Why is this even a discussion?!? If you don’t need space, extra seats, nor utility……cost isn’t a concern and the vehicle will be a weekend warrior, why wouldn’t you buy the Porsche?!? It seems like a no-brainer to me.

Additionally, while I would recommend a Carrera S/GTS minimum, I would still take a Carrera T over a G8X despite really liking the G8X platform. The Porsche is just……different. I drove ///M’s for 20 years, and now that I am a year into 992 ownership, I wouldn’t look back.

I agree 2023 Carrera T with 6 MT would be more fun.

But let’s be honest an M3CS is not an EV just because it can go fast in a straight.

M3CS is fun to drive for 95% of the population.

Not trying to be pedantic, but I owned a 991.2T and it was nearly a 3300 lbs car. The 992 is a likely to be around 3300-3350. I believe the M3 CS is supposed to be 80 lbs lighter to that will put it into the 3700 lb range so I think the delta is 400-500 lbs but keep in mind it had 5 seats, is 11 inches longer and 2 inches wider. I do not think given the size delta it’s all that bad especially when you consider the power/torque advantage. I doubt the T will be faster on a circuit either.

Thanks! I was number three on the 718 GT4 list and never moved in a year. Got on the T list in October and got an allocation in December. I’m still a little bummed that I’m ‘settling’ for a T, but what are you going to do… I ended up going with shark blue for that very reason - I wanted something that’s bright. Too many grey and black cars in my past.
