key fob battery ran out in 8 months
i've had at least 7 new BMWs in the last 10 years. I've never once replaced a key fob battery (once kept a car for almost 3 years!). My 22 M4 is now saying low battery on the key fob 8 months into ownership (and about 8k miles)
is this normal? does this car draw more battery than previous cars? just wondering or maybe i just had a crappy battery

If that's the case try keep the key further away from the car when not it in use. |

The battery drain might be because the key is too close to your car. I forgot the distance, but if it's too close it constantly communicates with the car which drains the battery.

Also, store the key in a stationary spot (not a drawer), so it's not inadvertently awakened. Be sure the replacement battery is a quality name brand not the least-cost option available online. There is a huge difference in battery life. Ask me how I know .... |
