Go with IND and their cover with hole in it, and just leave the strap on the car. It's clean for sure.

I’m hearing the question was asked by a source of mine, that the M Performance strap doesn’t release until June.

I got impatient and went with IND / Fall Line setup. Pricey, but I really appreciate what IND-Distribution offers with their inhouse paint shop. Always top notch work with legendary packaging.

Paddleshifterz always has the good stuff for the excellent prices. here is the info they gave me:
G80 tow strap for front and rear (works with G20 LCI, G21 LCI, G22, G23, G26, G28 LCI, G80, G81, G82, G83)
G87 for front only (also works with F40, F87, G20, G21, G28, G42, G87)

Wait you guys drive around with your tow straps on? Doesn't the car come with one in the trunk?

So you have to cut your OEM eye cover. No way for me, I keep my solution.

Yeah, the strap comes with a template to cut the cover.

For those of us with ZF8, we can't put the car into neutral without starting the engine. If you are getting a tow on track are they dragging the car while in park? This is not good for the transmission. It's pretty annoying that there is no way to get into neutral without starting the engine.

Yes, this is the problem. Step 1 states "switch on drive-ready state". That means start the engine. The manual doesn't provide a reference to a hidden button, hex key, or similar under the shift knob like previous models. Hoping somebody here would know of any alterative.

I don't think starting the car is a requirement - pressing the brake is. Under normal circumstances, the car will start by default when doing this but if it doesn't start because of a crash or mechanical it should still go into N. Also, I do recall seeing a manual lever while under the car on the side of the trans.

Idiot question... Does the track specify a strap verses and solid tow point (stock tow hook)? Or is it a safety issue getting caught on stuff. I don't run competitively (club racing / A group) so I 'm not worried about hooking anyone.

Not in my experience. The organizers want to get you off track fast and without damage. The safety crew appreciate a convenient tow point, but will drag you off however they can. I have not encountered an organizer or track that had an issue with an OEM or solid protruding hook at an HPDE. This may vary across the country, but don’t assume you have to buy straps to do a track day. Wheel to wheel race series rules may specify a strap or hinged loop though.

I've never been denied or questioned, but thought I'd ask. Thanks
