H&R super sports or AST??

Having a hard time making my final decision to go with either h&R super sports or ast springs? Both of the ride heights are close to even, the main thing I’m concerned with is ride quality and it not being bouncy.

I am not interested in KW HAS since I’ll never change the ride height and have a pickup I can daily also.

I know there was an old dated thread about this but looking to hopefully hear some new opinions on which to choose and why.

Thank you!!

Just did H&R supers yesterday. Feels like stock, no crashing. Nice drop that's not slammed. I'll post pics later.

I’m assuming you’ve had a handful of experience with both? ASTs seem to ride better, also are all the early complaints of noise with them gone?

We've installed both, either brand works well.

The noise you're referring to on the ASTs was on the non-adjustable/fixed-drop springs (different product), due to an incorrectly positioned insulator which was fixed some years ago. That has since been rectified and with no issues since.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions, both brands are in stock.

I just did the AST springs last week, zero noise. Ride is great as long as the roads are good. The drop on them is really nice, front goes lower than the KW has kit, and rear is pretty much perfect.

I have been in cars with KW has and H&R sport and they all kinda ride the same imo. Feels like the damper doesn't really keep up on harsher roads. I'm gonna eventually switch to an Ohlins road and track setup.

BC Racing is available for this type of application as well. There’s an option to have camber plates with their solution as well for an added bonus.

I have AST on my M3. Ride is pretty good and the drop is perfect. Downfall for me is I have some creaking in my rear springs. This might be due to having an early set which seems to not be that uncommon. AST has never got back to me after contacting them. That being said a lot of people seem to like these springs. I had H&Rs on an 21 S5 and zero complaints. Ride quality was actually better than stock in my opinion. No bounciness and zero issues. I’d recommend H&R but I don’t have first hand experience with them on an M3 specifically.

I went with H&r super sports
Ride feels like stock
Sport is a tad firmer then stock.
I went with springs over the has kits because I don’t need to adjust the height.
Nice drop, I also did 15mm spacers up front 12mm rear

AST is the way to go. Less bounce than H&R and more planted than OEM.

Did you have experience with H&R personally? Bounce is the #1 thing I don’t want.

I only use adjustable springs, the H&R are not bouncy at all but their regular springs are bouncy so you should stay away from them if thats the #1 thing you dont want

FWIW, I went from H&R Sports (not the super sports) to the AST adjustable and I greatly prefer the feel of the AST's to the H&R.

I don't know if its the springs themselves or just the fact the car is lower (or a bit of both) but it absolutely feels more planted... It is pretty noticeable on high speed dips/turns in the road... the ASTs handle them better.

And the drop on the AST is very nice.... (which can obviously be adjusted and dialed in on how you see fit)

First off, car looks beautiful man.

Secondly, what made you go with adjustable instead of just fixed springs? I’ll never be adjusting the height so I don’t really see the point of me going with them.

Thank you man, appreciate it.

And I figured if I was paying for something twice (going from H&R to AST) I wanted to make sure I could dial in the exact height I wanted this time.

in my opinion, it's not fair to compare regular springs to adjustable given the price difference.

If the customer has the budget for it, i recommend always skipping the regular springs and getting the adjustable ones. AST & H&R are excellent options and well worth the investment

Aren’t we discussing lowering springs in this thread and not HAS? I assumed that both the H&R super sports snd the AST in this thread referred to the non-adjustable versions. And if so why not the Eibachs as well?

I do love the lower look of the HAS but after dealing with all the clunking, binding, and bottoming out, HAS is a pass for me.

Yeah I’m looking to either do AST or HR super sports both non adjustable
