No, you won’t. Please don’t spread misinformation. You should have read and followed the instructions for BM3 and any other ones in detail, which no offense but from the sounds of this thread, maybe you didn’t on multiple occasions.

Followed the instructions provide to me by my tuner and in the Kies Motorsports video where he explicitly says "don't flash a locked DME". Are you really suggesting that or am I missing something?

Don't make assumptions. I've spent 50+ hours watching and reading every resource on the internet for weeks before I even ordered any of this stuff. I've been working with GTP since 12/8/23. I've also been speaking with ProTuningFreaks, GTP, and a few local technicians all along the way.

I only came here because it was the weekend and the superbowl, and if anyone else had the issue hopefully I'd find a solve.

You’re not “flashing” a locked DME on that preliminary BM3 connection. You’re doing a simple poll and registration. There’s a difference. Again, the devil’s in the details…

Hell, those preliminary steps also tell you if the DME is locked or not, so while that doesn’t matter especially if you bought new, since it would be locked, the odd chance of getting a used car that’s unlocked could happen, so why spend money when you don’t need to and you lucked out.

Some of these “tuners” skip small steps or cut/edit their video wrong and leave out some details assuming people will always read the instructions rather than watching a video. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched YouTube videos of shit needing to be done and some step was skipped or not mentioned, be it an assumed thing that obviously needed to be done or a skipped step that was later on added by the manufacturer on something due to a revision of the software or part.

+1 You always have to activate prior to sending it off to Femto

I got my ECU Unlocked through OrlandoAutowerks and @TristateBm3 they always get the job done right and have done so for everyone who I know that went through them.

I just sent my dme to femto and I asked both Femto and Protuning Freaks if I needed to activate beforehand and both said that's no longer needed.
