I was lucky enough to sit in a Brooklyn grey M4 tonight with the carbon buckets it black. I am 5'8" and ~180lbs and it was a tight fit from hips to shoulders. No doubt they will shine at the track, and they fit like a glove, but seeing that I will daily this car I'm glad I went with the comfort seats.👍🏻

Overall I liked the M4 much better in person than in photos but I'm still stoked about seeing my M3 for the first time. I'm sure it will blow my mind!

Seeing how these are only a $3800 option, I wonder if I could order them through my local bmw parts department and retrofit them into my F82.

That’s not how it works, the $3800 is the delta between the standard seats and the CF seats...expect closer to $10k for parts type of order.

One of the first mods I did was get Autotecknic dry carbon paddles. Are you saying you bought the new long carbon paddles or the older style m performance carbon paddles (that have the same shape as the plastic oem ones)? Aren't the new long carbon paddles from the G8X Ms stupid expensive as a standalone part?

Haha, I am already looking into this as well, dealers already have the parts in their system but they can't order or see prices tell the release date. My buddy work at a BMW service centers, and was only able to get the price for the bottom, which is $1400. So the backrest is probably going to be more expensive.

Yes. And they are expensive. But I'm a very OEM + person, I don't want to put any non OEM parts on the car. Mainly for fitment/warranty reasons. BMW Carbon and parts are always 100%. And I believe you pay for what you get.

Just got done sitting in the carbon seats (sat in the stocks yesterday), definitely not the easiest to get in and out of (I'm about 5'9, 180 athletic build). After Tuesday's leg day, my hamstrings did not love the bottom side bolsters. Definitely a tight fit and decently comfortable, however if I'm driving this car 50+ miles every day I'm getting the stock seat.

They are however gorgeous.

Sat in the regular seats and they are fine. Didn't drive the car but they seem as snug as my F80s.

I think the base seats definitely look boring compared to the upgraded ones, I'm a spirited driver , and will never track it . That being said, I can't stand the stiff seats from the porsche 918/gt4, I've sat in them and wouldn't take them for free! Not comfortable for a long drive and miserable getting in and out and I'm in good physical shape and only 5"6.
If these upgraded seats are more comfortable than the ones in the Porsche, I'd go for them.

I just spent about 30-40 minutes going back and forth between standard seats in a G80 and carbon buckets (let's abbreviate to CFBs) in a G82. I'm 5'10" 190 lbs, medium build, slightly wide posterior and thighs (too personal? lol). If I can accept the cost and get the wife approval I'll get the CFBs. To test them, I set them in low position first and then a middle height position. There is a huge vertical adjustment range and in low low it's TOO low. I mostly flattened the bottom cushion angle, and I set it back from steering wheel fairly far initially. I do think moving it rearward from driving position to get in/out will be important.

Getting into them I just sort of plopped in then pivoted. I couldn't figure out a way to not rub at least somewhat on the side bolster but the rub didn't seem much different than what I do to my X3M M-seats which sit up high. To get out of them I actually used my hand on the lower door sill (M4) to push up and out and thought this was super easy. I did not feel like you can use the door itself to help get out. You can always of course just massively rub on the bolster and slide over it to get out but that's not a good plan.

While in the seats I thought they were supremely supportive and I had no comfort concerns for the time I spent in them. Due to how they wrap around more than base seats, my initial impression is the CFBs are actually *more* comfortable. Padding to back rest is less allowing a slightly more flat angle from lumbar to back of head and the padding at booty/hip seemed excellent. I liked the decreased lumbar padding because I could get my butt more into the rear of the seat and didn't feel like the back was pushing me out. The hump thing between thighs was noticeable, not uncomfortable, but I think something to get used to as it did feel odd. I was surprised that I noticed it actually and if given a choice I would remove it.

So yeah I really liked them and will very likely get them.

Dealer only had normal seats M3/M4. They felt decent, and decently normal. It's even easier to get in and out of compared to the F90 M5 seat as the bolsters on the bottom part (thigh bolsters) aren't as aggressive. So I don't think that they are more aggressive than even the M5 seat. Shame there was no carbon buckets to try. I do feel the buckets will free up some room for the rear passengers, and there's just no comparison between that carbon backplate vs. the normal soft-touch leatherette backplate.

Here's a nice ground-view picture of what faces you getting into (and out of) the M Carbon buckets. This is the best view I've found that truly shows the height of the side thigh-bolster.

I think any required gymnastics will be well worth it for these awesome seats!

These seats are probably what excites me the most about this car. Approaching these seats sideways and then jumping into them will add some nice needed drama to the whole driving experience. And let's not forget how nice these things look. That's a win-win for me .

They are going to need bolster covers on the outside seat bottoms. The wear is going to be horrendous otherwise.

The tilt on that seat bottom is a little extreme.

Well she certainly seemed to no problem getting in.

Think I'll watch it again, just to be sure.

of course, she's a stick and compared to her i'm a fat ass, I will have more problems

But yes you have to take care when going in and out (in the seat I mean).
