This makes no sense.
You get car detailed, polished or paint corrected and then put PPF.
That will lock in perfect paint.
Constantly detailing and “getting paint better” is not good idea. U remove a little bit of clear coat each time you polish it.
And u can clean car with PPf all you want and it will look perfect.
I don’t understand the point of this bra thing. It’s clearly from the days when PPF was no good like it is today.

There is no way that you can't get PPF to look as good as paint. I enjoy detailing my cars and have been doing so for many years with both PPF and no PPF. After selling my Porsche and last BMW, I decided not to do PPF, especially on my white car.

I'm not trying to decide about the benefits of PPF, I only wanted leads on a bug screen for my M4.

Oh come on. Stop being stubborn and PPF your full front end by a good shop. You won't even know it's there.

Is a spider a bug? Or, is a spider just a spider? Maybe your M4 is a convertible? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Then, perhaps this spider bra is better suited for you than a bug bra…
Maybe the spider stock color scheme can be changed to M colors. Now you’re talking!

Anyway, best I could find on quick google.

Time to move on from bug bras and paste wax, both horrible products by today’s standards.

Tellin ya. I think you have to get one custom made. I don’t think anyone sells these for this chassis.

Not even Alibaba has them. I checked.

Actually, they work great. And, by the way, I've had clear bras installed on most of my vehicles since my 2001 Corvette.

Thanks. I think you're right. I'm going to contact Coverking to see if they can do anything.

For popping on for a single trip, I'm sure traditional bras work great. But for their intended purpose, which is to stay on the vehicle longer-term, bras are notorious for trapping abrasive dirt and dust underneath and ultimately scratching up the finish.

And as someone who used paste wax extensively many years ago, I find the current synthetic offerings offer nearly the same level of shine for all practical purposes, and world's better protection. At least generally, can't say specifically for bugs.

I remember waxing my car with pure carnauba wax when I was a lot younger and after ~3 weeks the beading action would start to dissipate. A week or two later and water would sheet. Today's synthetic coatings last at least 10x longer.

Anyways, by all means go for it. I gotta stop because I can't believe I am debating the merits of bras and paste wax right now. I need to refocus on my work.

I used to use Collinite boat wax and left it on during long highway trips which would remove easily along with the bugs. Today, I used different products for my detailing, but a paste wax still provides great protection from bugs.

But, and again, I am trying to find something to protect my radiator and other front end intakes that are nearly impossible to clean without disassembling the front end.

I think you're trolling us here with driving an X5. I thought this was the forum section for those to discuss topics about their M3's and M4's?

I had a front bra on my 2011 335is that I used when taking trips. It worked great and never caused any damage whatsoever during the 12 years that I kept the car in like new condition. The new owner thanked me for including it with the sale and also intended to use it during highway trips.

You should definitely do it. Grab your Walkman, load up Motley Crue, remove your T-tops ( not that lucky🤣 ) and cruise to the Arcade
