2023 Skyscraper Grey M3 Paint Protection - Melbourne Review

After having some bad experiences with Paint Protection services in the past, i was leaning towards not doing anything with my new M3. However being in the industry, i had come across some guys in Porsche circles that mentioned some positive experiences they have had, so decided to go down and meet with Jason one of the owners of Java Detailing Studio.

5 Minutes in and you can tell the guys know what they are talking about, and importantly care about the job to be performed, so the car was booked in for full ceramic coating plus B pillar PPF to stop those swirls on the piano black that BMWs are known for!

Photos of JAVAs handywork attached - extremely happy with the coating - even after a few days of heavy rain after picking up, most of the water moving off the car as soon as it stops raining or completely with just a blower when getting home. I can see maintenance being quite a lot lower now, especially on these 826M wheels!

For those interested, this ceramic coating is Modesta from Japan which Java specialise in.
-BC-05 across the car
-BC-06 for wheels and brakes
-Suntek PPF for B Pillars

Are you still happy with the work from Java?
Yesterday I placed an order for an M4 Competition Convertible in Skyscraper Grey, and I will want to some PPF and Ceramic protection done before I drive it to QLD once delivered where I will garage the car at a home we own in Noosa while I live and work in Melbourne.
I still have the M2 Comp in Melbourne which has PPF and ceramic, but I am not sure the company I used on my last two M2's is fully competent.
Thanks in advance...and if anyone else can recommend someone in Melbourne please feel free to let me know.
The bad news 6-8 months wait for the M4.

Hey Cadillac
yeah, very happy with the work - car is 9 months old, still repells water and and makes the car really easy to clean as Day 1. These guys are great with PPF as well, ive seen good and bad PPF jobs and its very noticable... Id suggest calling them and speaking to Jason to suss them out furhter, he really knows his stuff. Yeah long wait on the M4 as its going to be an LCI i assume, and that doesnt start production till March.
IF you speak to Jason reference my instagram - he might look after you with price.
Cheers

Looking forward to seeing another G8x getting around on the coast! If you want any work done locally, I’d recommend Reload Detailing in Alexandra Headland. Just a small 1 man operation but a true perfectionist and very skilled. He worked on my F87 and now my G80.

Garage List
Another to consider in Melbourne is I’M WRAPPED in Tullamarine. They’ve wrapped two cars for me in satin PPF (LC300 and G81) and they do a truly amazing job.

Cars are Graphite Grey and Black Sapphire Metallic respectively.

Thanks for the recommendation I met with Jason yesterday and was impressed with his set up and knowledge...nice guy very engaging.
Will do a full PPF and probably ceramic as the M4 will be a long-term keeper.
He had a M3 Wagon that he was protecting with PPF...nice looking car.
Again, thank you.

Don't know as yet have not been told but thinking July/August.
The dealer had no idea about the LCI, always amazed how this forum knows more than the dealers...LOL.
I am ok pre LCI or LCI, just cosmetic front and rear changes, I think.

Unless the dealer already has your allocation/production date confirmed, i think its going to be an LCI - LCI production starting March - so yeah probably mid year.

Very little changes for M4, i think lights front and rear, and possibly idrive 8.5

Just saw the LCI release have told the dealer to place the order as an LCI…some nice upgrades although not too many on what is already a great package.

nice, definately go the LCI - not any drawback although i prefer the older Laser lights. The rest of the changes are good.

Confirmed the updated order today for the LCI.
Probably a May build to meet my August/September delivery need, did not change the specs.
Skyscraper Grey
Rec Calipers
Black 826 wheels
Black full Merino leather
No carbon buckets as my wife would kill me and to be honest, I like the sport seats with the neck warmer.

Now the wait begins.
