Running Spacers on Track?

Found a cheap set of wheels on offerup to use for autocross/track but when I tried to mount them I found out they were not the offset the last owner claimed they were... I guess its my fault for not checking. Since I already got tires mounted I'm thinking of just running them with spacers. I need atleast 20mm all around to get them to sit correctly. Is this safe to run with that much spacer depth? Wheels are 19x9.5 +41 and tires are 275/35

I can't speak for handling aspects, and 20mm is on the thick side, but if you have the correct length lug nuts it shouldn't be too big of a problem. I've used 15mm spacers on my track setup. Never had a problem, whats 5mm?

Side question, does our car have the 14mm x 1.25 thread pitch? I need to get a hanger.

Awesome, if 15mm works fine I feel comfortable with 20.

Yes, M14x1.25, same as my Mini Coopers and newer BMW's I think. I would recommend a 'smooth' hanger though and not a knurled one (like mine).

Fwiw, I run a 20mm front spacer on my f80. This is needed to run a square wheel setup. Get some nice long wheel studs to make life easier.

Do you have any stud recommendations? I could only find some that fit up to 15mm spacers.

On my F80 I use 92mm BimmerWorld bullet nose studs lonked below. These are long enough to handle 20mm spacers. Note they are M14 x 1.25. I recommend you call BW to confirm that the tread pattern works on the G8x.

An update in case anyone else runs into this thread.

I ended up running 22mm in the front (10 + 12mm stackup) and 20mm in the rear, all four corners with 50mm lug bolts. The car drove perfectly to the track (~70 miles) and throughout the first two sessions. In the middle of the third session I started to get some vibration over 75 mph. Stopped and rechecked the bolt torques but they were all fine. I'm guessing its a wheel/tire itself and does not have to do with the spacers. I have another track day coming up so I'll go get them rebalanced before then. I wouldn't be surprised though if it was a bent wheel:

Doesn't seem to matter with braking or not, just a steady vibration that builds up after 75 mph. Can't feel anything before that.

Stacking spacers is not recommended. It might be the cause of the vibration. I think Millway might make a 22mm spacer fyi

What tires were you on when you felt the vibration? Did you feel it more when the car is loaded (ie in the corners?) If so, it might be the tires absorbing heat.

The first heat soak over 160 on cup2 will give a nasty vibration. I experienced this on a new set, and when replacing only the front axle. I had to just drive through it, and it eventually went away. This last set of Cup2, I heat cycled them in the street and let them rest for 2 days, and there was no vibration.

I went with 10 + 12mm since I can use those with my oem wheels once I lower the car, but I might just go with a single 22mm before my next event.

Was running with Kumho V730's in 275 square. Didn't heat cycle them all the way up to 160 but did some street driving here and there before.

likely a wheel balance issue then, weights or bent wheel. put the fronts on a balancer and check them out.

Update #2.

Rotated wheels F-R while keeping the spacers as is and vibration was still there but this time from the back. Took it into a shop, they rebalanced it and sure enough the rears were a little off. Mounted everything back and it drove fine on the street and to the track. Ran only 2 sessions at the track but no issues there and on the drive back.
