If they had gone the opposite direction, I could have gotten over the looks. But it's really just approaching the size of an M5 at this point, so I'll stick with me M2C and maybe go PCar next if I ever want out of my M2C.

All that said, this is making the M2C look more and more like a keep for a long time car.
they manage to pork up the M5 so that it is 500lbs heavier and a bit bigger so you can get what used to be an M5 sized car in this now.

I agree on your points - too porky, stick should be available for AWD/RWD - comp or no comp, and DCT should have stayed but they love the ZF for everything now I guess.. must have gotten a great bulk deal

Lots to like, but just can't do that exterior styling (particularly the nose). Continued increase in curb weight, length, wheelbase, front heaviness - interested to see reviews on how it drives. It's gonna be fast though - no doubt with almost 100 HP more than the F80 base.

Wow, that's a heavy car! And the front end is a no-go for me. I get what they were trying to do, but it looks very Alfa Romeo-ish. Plus, I dislike the asymmetry of the front ACC sensor

Alfa did their front end right. BMW made this look like a Beaver after a maple tree.

Not to mention that the carbon fiber seats with the carbon fiber nut buster in the front portion of the seat cost 15k. CF seats in a 911 T, 718 GT4, T, Spyder, GTS 4.0 911 GT3 doesn't even cost that much (5,900 to be specific)

15k? What are you on about? They are £3.4K on the UK website, it works out cheaper if you go for the ultimate pack though by about £1.5k, than adding it all together on its own.

14k with ultimate pack I guess. plus another 8k for the M Drivers and CCBs

You still can't get the seats separately so you have to spend at least 7k for them.

I just posted the a pic of the option to add the seats separately? Do you mean we won't be able to get them in the US separately (as I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case)

Can we please quit the talk about design and start talking about the almost 450lb increase in weight?! Like what were they thinking? I wonder where all this weight comes from

Yes, if you notice they say they are only available with other optional equipment. Carbon package starts at 7k and the ultimate is 14k

Ah I see, I'm likely choosing the ultimate package, if we get that here, but not surprised it's bundled. Appreciate the info!

F80 M3 manual US curb weight is listed at 3,540 here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=923203. So, 3,840 for G80 core would be +300 lb. Still a lot!

Is it true that you can update the base manual to comp power level via OTA? Like new MPPK? Also, I found some lit that says something about mild 48v hybrid on lci but not sure if already built in... guess it will coincide w amg release

Looks like M Carbon bucket seats will be a stand-alone option at least in the USA. This is straight from the BMW USA press release:

Also looks like any of the available 19/20" wheel options will be available on EITHER of the M3/M4 base (6MT) or Competition cars.

Interesting. I actually want the carbon exterior etc more than I want the buckets anyway, will wait and see what all of the prices are here though. It specced to £86k on the UK site and I don't want to spend more than $90k if I can help it
