I may be wrong. The CDV, from my understanding, is a valve that limits how much hydraulic fluid is allowed through to engage/release the actual clutch. So that means if I dump the clutch, the clutch wont actually "dump", but rather release very quickly, even though the pedal has been released. SO, removing the valve gives you direct control with the clutch pedal.

If you know I mean many years of experience of driving manual. Removing the CDV is the way to go if you want the car to do exactly what you make it do.

I just had this done last week on my '24 - the CDV was there, and I do feel a difference after the removal - well worth it.

Thanks for the heads up. Did you have a mechanic do it?

Yes I was at the shop having a bunch of things done (mad mid pipe/project gamma grill and front mounted intakes) and asked to have the CDV removed at the same time.

Cool. Any specifics on how you feel it improved things?

like a few have said maybe some of this is in my head, but I really think 1->2 is much smoother (even around 3-4k rpm), and prior I felt like going 4->3 was tougher (for lack of a better word) - and now rowing through all gears is smoother.

Just had this done. Feels good so far. I’ll report back once I have a bit more drive time.

Ripped a few holeshots and definitely notice an improvement. Subtle overall change, but certainly worth it.

Debating doing this on my G87, but not many people have done it on the M2 yet. Appreciate the feedback on this thread.

The G87 has the same S58 in it and I'm betting the same procedure to remove the CDV. There's no reason to not consider it because you have a G87 vs. a G80/G82.

If you enjoy banging through gears, then it's a no brainer. The clutch, iirc, feels a little bit lighter after installation, but it's one of those mods I'd do again in a heartbeat.

Thinking of the CDV delete in my new G82. The rev hang has been a bit frustrating.

Is it safe to assume the CDV delete is fine during the break-in period? I'm about 550 miles in. Having the CDV affords some level of protection as I get used to the car I suppose, but that 1-2 delay is my one and only complaint thus far, so the sooner I can be rid of it (or minimize it), the better.

just personal preference I waited to do any mods until after the break-in - but I imagine there is little risk doing it prior.

Thanks, I think I'll likely do the same. Just feels so far, I'm about halfway through!

I deleted mine the first week I owned it. Had less than 20 miles on it at the time. No issues now either.
