Always start up in CarPlay

Sometimes when I get in the car, CarPlay starts and the music I was playing before continues. All good.

Other times, I get sent to the standard BMW iDrive menus and have to navigate to get back to CarPlay and manually start playing music again.

Is there a way to just make CarPlay the default, and just always start Spotify or something? Via normal settings or coding with Bimmercode?

I’ve set the first memory button to CarPlay.

It’s still an extra step, but at least it avoids fiddling with the iDrive menus.

How did you program it as a favorite? If I’m in CarPlay and hold down button 1 it acts like it’s saving, but then gives me an ‘unable to save’ message.

Yes, sorry - was away for a bit there, but it's always the selection you want in the parent menu. Same with tire pressures, etc. It's not immediately obvious.

I don’t have this problem, my car always start in carplay. Sometimes though it doesn’t connect immediately, so it starts in IDrive home menu, but then switches back automatically to carplay when it manages to connect again

Set up an automation to run music on your iPhone. I use YouTube Music for example.
