Tint just not cool anymore
Hey guys my apologies for posting a topic that had been beaten to death, however, is it me or does anybody else feel like tinting new BMWs, especially the ones new from the factory are just not cool anymore. Maybachs, Rolls Royces etc that come from the factory with a particular shade are fine but from your standpoint what yall think?

I never cared about tint being cool, in the sense that you mean, or not. It's always been about heat rejection and glare reduction. Also, I'm about the last person in the world who would actually know what was cool or not. Just not a cool dude. :-)

I never really cared what was “cool” or not. Tint is a requirement when you live in warm weather areas. When I picked up my M4 it was horrible driving home with the intense heat coming in through the windows. After 35% tint it’s a huge difference. Well worth the ~300 average for tint.

Not to be off topic but, ever since I’ve been posting the gas station I work at has been filling up with Bs. I’m like chillin in my office and then all of a sudden I peep through the cameras and I see the pumps with CSLs and like some wow stuff. I dunno if it’s any of yall but finally something that gets me excited

It's a heat and light thing for me. Look (while nice) comes a distant third. I don't like roasting when I drive in the sun, and I'm light sensitive. 30% side/rear tint plus 5% polarized sunglasses makes my day much better.

I never tinted car windows until I moved to Texas, then it became a requirement. All about comfort and heat rejection like most others have said.
Now that I live in the Pacific NW, I don’t need it as much but on the occasional hot day, it’s nice to have. |

Yes it is. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an option with a push of a button to tint or not. Ughhh

Buy new BMW M3/4 on Friday. Drop off Sat for clear wrap/tint/ springs-Has/ JB-4/intake/Midpipe. Pick up following week and commence driving the fuck out of it. Even if you are a Dork😄 this will slightly make you less of one. Then enjoy the huge dick magnet you are cruising

Electrochromatic tech already exists just not applied at this level yet. It was used in some of the all glass roofs that were around about a decade ago but seems to have been abandoned. My guess is cost and complexity.

Surprised no one has mentioned UV protection. For me that was one of the most important features, to protect the leather from damage (both on the seats and on my arms).

My car isn't tinted but I'm not opposed to a tasteful tint. It's the limo tint that can look a bit trashy.

Afa UV rays goes that’s a sensitive subject, for me at the moment those UV waves have helped heal me in many ways. Take what you feel and what your body needs into deep consideration. Not what a so called “DR or MD” may say. If interested, get your labs done and research yourself then go to the “DR” and see what useful information they may or may not provide.

Yeah, Forz, at least for me it seems like some ppl be trying to hard. In Cali, I clearly see ppl with astonishingly amounts of money but have no taste. They think oh a G wagon or wtv would be sick but you can tell they just have NO taste. 😂

Most UV light does not pass normal glass. It is absorbed. Only quarz glass or certain plastics allows it to go through. You will get the visible and infrared light though.
Here in Germany tinting of car glass (front and sides) is forbidden for good reason. The light you keep out in day time is the one you miss at night.

May I ask what ailment(s) were helped by UV exposure? I know some animals require it for survival (for example my pet turtle) but I am not aware of human need for UV. |
