Is the quality control that bad or did they send me factory rejects?
Wow, that's incredibly crappy. My set from paddleshifterz is flawless - hard to say if what you got was a QA mistake or a counterfeit part or what. Mine are either BMW original parts in perfect condition or the greatest fakes ever (And let's be honest, for the size of the prospective market, is anyone faking these? How many would you sell, like, 5?)

I see now that IND has them and I would 1000% trust anything they're selling and also for them to make it right if needed. But when I ordered mine I don't think IND stocked the parts...and also paddleshifterz was significantly cheaper, even with international shipping. Sorry IND, love you guys otherwise!

These are just a few of the issues. Pretty hard to catch these in photos as well. The water spot looking defects is not on top of the clear and its in several places.

Think my detailer can fix this? Should he even have to? Sending these back is going to be painful and they won't cover shipping.

Wow. That's bad.

I'd think a detailer could fix surface blemishes, polish them out, but if those aren't on the surface, and you have to go in to the clear coat or whatever is covering the CF...you'll just end up creating a surface that's uneven, unless it can be re-filled in. I guess I'm not sure what all can be done after the fact or if you'd always see lines from different batches of material, etc. That aside, the logo is problematic, for that you're definitely digging in to that clear covering to try and fix what maybe can't be cosmetically fixed.

I hate to resort to this but - put the charge in contest with your credit card? You ordered new, unblemished parts, and that's not what you got, sounds like the vendor won't stand behind what they're selling when it's no fault of yours...

I had an Alcantara interior in my Porsche 911 GTS including the steering wheel, seats, stick shift knob and armrest. I'm not a fan, especially living in Florida where you use suntan lotion and sweat. I bought seat covers and pretty much wore driving gloves when using the car. Not worth it, IMO!

My wallet thanks y'all for the photos and inspiration. I got mine installed the other day and love 'em.

Actually, I was tempted by the real/psuedo leather seatbacks on the M8 coupe/convertible, which are a dead-ringer for Merino leather. But I thought they'd scuff more readily than Alcantara -- plus the carbon fiber latch and headrest trim match the rest of the interior.

Still on the fence with these. Gorgeous for sure, will just never see them. Then I take into account my 3 Cheerio-eating booger-picking seat-back-kicking minions and remember why I can’t have nice things…

I haven't pulled the trigger, yet, but I've had them in the cart, on more than one occasion. I kept reminding myself to order the armrest. Maybe I'll to that, now.

I'd had these on my wish list ever since IND announced their availability. Being a G82, they're really only visible to me, but that what counts (IMHO) -- not unlike wearing a nice wristwatch under long sleeves.

I glance at the contrast stitching and seat latch every time I open the door, then catch glances of the Alcantara and carbon fiber while aimlessly scanning about at stoplights. Those little moments of pleasure are worth the price of entry.

My kids are the only reason I don't pull the trigger on these either. Little A holes are always messing my stuff up.😒😅

I totally get it. They're a lot of uninterrupted square footage for careless rear passengers (of any age) to scuff and stain. Fortunately I have no occasion to carry rear passengers, so the Alcantara should hold up.

As vulnerable as that material is, I thought the (p)leather on the M8 seat backs would be even more so. That sure feels nice, though -- an exact match for the black leather on the tops of the door cards and dashboard. What it lacks is contrast stitching along the corners of the seat backs; it's just a single piece aside from the headrest cutout.

Resurrecting this old thread. How difficult is the installation on the g82 with the seatback handle? The g80 looks very straightforward. Is there anything different with installing these on the m4 with the handles?

There's specific versions for the G82/83. You'd choose it when ordering.

Yes, I understand that, but my question is regarding installing the ones for the g82, for those who have installed them. What’s involved in removing the seat back handles and installing the new ones?

G82 just needs extra bolt at the back of the handle removed. Installation is not that hard but sometime the gap between the back carbon piece and the headrest is too big. The performance backseat cover is hand made and the top bracket where it mounts to the seat headrest is not well glued and ends up having a big gap after installation. I had to do some custom work with the bracket to minimise the gap.

Imagine the G80 would be in the same thing.

Love the seat backs - love the arm rest too but I don't think it would look good with the Yas Marina Blue interior. hmmm
