The G8x 6MT doesn’t have radar cruise but the Golf 6MT does
So here is a question to BMW! How come a VW Golf can have a 6 speed manual working great with radar cruise control and lane keep assist, but on a G80 M3, it is an impossible option? And YES, I am one of those people that would like this option on my $100k manual M3!

Unfortunately you are punished because BMWs system is more advanced than vw. BMW system is capable of allowing the car to stop all the way and in stop and go traffic manage the vehicle speed autonomously from 0-40 mph all things that cannot be done without control of the gearbox. They would actually have to invest in designing a dumbed down system just to be compatible with the manual.

Let's face it, BMW would have discontinued MT long time ago if it wasn't for the loyal fans in the US market that want to have cars that are more "engaging". The car as a whole is designed to be Auto, so you're lucky they threw you a bone and let you have it in MT. They are unlikely to dump money and resources into MT and come up with tools that MT folks probably don't really care for all that much.

I mean, radar cruise control seems low on the totem pole of what should be on an M car. This is the first gen where you can get it in any version.
The argument of 'but a 20k Kia has it' is not very relevant. The M car had pretty different design goals than the 20k POS that has a few additional features |

Drive a 318i for a day and you’ll forget all about the lack of radar cruise in a base M3. |

I am wondering how does the golf system actually work with a stick? let say you put it in 6 gear and the car goes all the way to crawl speed and then wants to speed up again?. what does it do then? just cancel? or actually try to accelerate from 5mph to 70 mph in 6th gear and then stutter? and vice versa, if call in front of you pulls from 30 mph to 70 mphs while you're in 3rd gear does it hit the red line and disable ? My guess is it will just display "wrong gear" and disable
seems like a system with so many limitations that may only work in a very narrow range of speed and gears, it would be pretty much like the standard cruise that needs attention all the time... not something most folks would want to pay for
