Less dust for street duty? Porterfield R4-S or EBC Red(out of stock everywhere right now)

More bite for track duty? Fedrodo DS2500 or DS3.12

Switch to Isweep1500 and you’ll never go back. These ceramic pads are quiet, stop very well, and require no break in period or process. And the winning feature: super low dust keeps wheels clean much longer.

I would do both front and rear pads. They last a long time, so I’d want a matched set.

Yea just do what TopJimmy says. There is too much drama trying to buy EBC Redstuff. Get iSweep like he said.

It depends on what you are looking for. If dust is a concern, I recommend the EBC reds, but they are hard to find in stock.

If you want more stopping power and less noise, get the EBC yellow

Brembo and Pagid are both really good and OEM. Can't go wrong with either one.

Not sure why people are on the iSweep bandwagon. $420 for the fronts? Porterfield R4S are $299 and have been proven for many years. I’ve run them on 7 different BMWs over 15 years and they’ve been flawless.

I guess some folks think the higher price blindly means better quality?

Do you have them on your g80 currently? If so, how’s the brake dust and squeezing? Any othe type of noises?

I have them in my g82CX. Zero squealing if that’s what you meant. They squeeze just fine 🤣

Dust is definitely less and drier. BMW brake compound has always just been oily and really sticks to the wheels. These drier compound pads don’t tend to cake up on the wheels the same way.

I’ve also used EBC Reds in the past and have had similar results.

We're on it because they're proven. I don't think we've had many reports/usage of these brakes.

AP2478 and AP1850 are the correct SKUs?

I'll definitely consider them for next time if they're truly competitive with the 1500s/EBC Reds for noise/dust amount.

Porterfield R4-S has been our most popular sport street pad on the F87 M2/M2C.

Agreed that higher price isn't always better.

Proven… I don’t see anything about them before 2022. I’ve been using R4S’s since my 2000 Alpine White M coupe. Wish I had kept that car. But I digress.

Proven for this car, specifically. Many users here (myself included) who have iSweeps and report good results. You're the first one I've seen who uses them on the G8x.

I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just being realistic.

Do the G8x cars stop differently than the Fx cars? Brake by wire of course, but that doesn’t matter to the brake pads. People getting caught up in promotion on these boards and spending too much for the same or less is what I see TBH. Same with the yellow DRLs and so much of the CF stuff.

Every car stops differently than every other car. They use different calipers, different rotors, different brake booster systems, different brake by wire systems, as you mentioned. Anything can be a factor in something working well or not.

I think it's pretty obvious that you'd want to try and have people give a real-world review/confirmation that a pad is good for a car before you start recommending it to people on a critical component such as brakes...but...I guess you do you.

Yeah, my review - I’ve used Porterfields on a 2000 e36 M Coupe, a 2003 e46 M3, a 2005 X5, a 2006 Z4 M Roadster, a couple e46 3 series sedans and now a G82 M4 (coming back to BMW from Porsche, where I used them on a 2016 Cayman GTS) - so I’d say I have a right to consider them ‘proven.’

But hey - follow the hype!
