I hated those seats the moment i sat in them, and it had a lot to do with me passing on the M5 CS (Who knew the car would increase in value as it was an early allocation). I ordered the CSL with the manual buckets. We will find out if those are even worse, or somehow slightly better.
What's bad about the bucket seats?

Has it been confirmed that the M5 Touring is coming to the US?
Interested in knowing this as well.

It really will come down to what it comes with, if it doesnt have the csl hood, that brings the price down significantly,

The csl hood is about 10K msrp and the trunk is around 12Kmsrp to buy from bmw,

im basing my pricing on the past

I see the cs coming with the csl center console, steering wheel, maybe buckets are an option? would be cool
upgrades suspension pieces all around to match the csl,
csl front lip, exhaust

I dont see alot here to justify a 120K msrp without ceramics, maybe it will start at 110 tops? id be surprised if any higher.

We will see.

Either way I plan on getting it, 1st at my dealer, I just picked up a g80 comp until thats available and love it, so anything better is a plus for me!

I found the power buckets prohibitively tight and uncomfortable personally and i'm not a big guy (5'11", 177lbs). The center piece pinched my thighs. People who sat in the manual M4 CSL buckets said they were roomier than the power buckets (and it sort of looks that way in pictures), so hence i ordered the car that way. Will remain to be seen once i get it.

Entry and exit in the power buckets is brutal, basically have to electrically move the seat all the way back for me to get out without wearing the side bolster (which was described by Ex_Stig )

Wow, we are both same height and weight, so that's unfortunate. You hear Joe Achilles and other online reviewers rave about how comfortable the motorized Carbon bucket seats are on the M3/M4. Considering the new M2, and was leaning toward the buckets. I may have to go to a local dealer and try them out on any car in stock so equipped.

I kinda knew they would be more challenging to enter/exit than standard seats, but didn't expect them to be uncomfortable for people our height and weight. Thanks for the info.

This is very subjective topic, I am 6 feet 220-230lbs pretty wide shoulders and I find them totally fine even for 4+ hour drives, yes they are not as comfortable as regular seats but I had no problem making the compromise for having a seat that can hold me flat out on track or aven add a layer of feeling what is going with the car, with normal seats when there are sudden g force chances your whole body moves and many times you need to use your legs to control the motion. You do this a LOT less with the buckets.

Everything I've seen from the leaker here indicates that it is coming. Hopefully that doesn't change.

If we end up not getting the car, that will be a bummer, but I don't think I'll feel bad for missing the G80 CS.

Not trying to put any hate on the G80, I just don't want to do the CF bucket seats again. Ingress/egress is too cumbersome and explaining to passengers (clients) the proper way to get in and out gets old and awkward.

I'd highly recommend you find a dealer to sit in them on an M3/M4 or M5 CS before speccing an order. Like PLF69 said, its a subjective position. For me, they were just not something i'd want to spend too much time in. Others think they are great.

I seem to be in the minority here, but i also can't believe people find them livable for more than a few minutes. If you compare an M4 CSL manual bucket picture to the automatic buckets, you can see why i think the manual ones may be more comfortable (the side bolsters and the middle ridge are in very different spots on both seats relative to each other, and the manual bucket has no hard lumbar piece. Also the lip of the seat hangs away from the side bolster on the manual buckets by several inches).

Harry Metcalfe in his M2 CS review said the seats were so uncomfortable he had to get out occasionally, and i drive that car for hours and hours without discomfort and just love those seats. I also find it very hard to get comfortable in Porsche 18 ways (i can just never find the perfect adjustment). This is just to give you perspective on how i view seats.

G99 confirmed for all possible venues of leakage

Come on Stiggy, if my fat ass is comfortable in these. And they hold SOOOOOO much better in a 1+g turn

Definitely a try before buy thing. I assumed the carbon buckets would be more uncomfortable than a well padded M seat, but not downright unbearable. I owned an 2012 Evo MR which had Recaro bucket seats, thinly padded and would hug you like a mother, yet I found them comfortable (enough). They were a pain to get out of but looked so cool I compromised.

Obviously for spirited driving and track use there is nothing like a supportive bucket seat, but I ain't that young 46 year old of 2012 nor track much anymore.

Decisions decisions.

Oh, they hold me fine. But, I do a ton of short trips. My commute to the office is less than 15 minutes.

The appeal of contorting my lower body to get in and out of the seats is wearing on me… and the seats. 😂

What is weird to me: Even in the last spyshots, the CS had the standard bootlid spoiler ... but already the frontsplitter of the M4CSL? Either they are testing the M3 CS with kind of an aero imbalance ... or the downforce of the M4 CSL splitter isn't much different?

On the other hand there were also spyshots of the M3 CS with a seemingly larger bootlid spoiler yet under full camo ...?

Yup, very likely due to the electronic parking brake. That's why all the manufacturers have this setup in the rear now.
I know this is old but the GT500 similar price range used brembo calipers front an rear and added the additional electric parking brake caliper.

BMW honestly dropped the ball on the braking design the g80 also the steering wheel isn't girthy like previous generations I hate it.

The CS is going to come with a regular boot lit spoiler. All the CS models do, it won't have a bigger CSL spoiler and it won't have a carbon trunk. For one, the CSL needs more rear downforce and rose jointing to compensate for the lack of rear weight on the back two wheels. The CSL also needs something special for the money it costs.

This is sort of my point in posts above. There is a vibe to posts where everyone is like "i fully expect this to have all the CSL features and be faster and better than the CSL. Also it will start at $95k-$100k".
