Did you bring this up with the car wash before leaving....or you didn't notice the damaged PPF until you got home? If you didn't notice until later, you have no case. And since the car wash won't reimburse, you really don't have much choice.
So if I were you, I would simply embrace the suck, replace the PPF on that one section of the bumper, and never do business with that car wash again.

nothing wrong with trying to get some relief from the car wash, but I thought they all usually had disclaimers to protect themselves
Worse case scenario the PPF did its job, replace it or move on. |

Are you sure your son didn't hit it with his bike?
/s If I were in your situation I'd just pay the $500 to have the PPF replaced. |

If you feel like pushing the issue, push it.
My recommendation is to minimize your time and emotional investment in the process by keeping communication short and to the point and having no expectations of a favorable result. It’s $500. Keep everything proportional to the stakes. Bluff being a PIA and maybe they won’t call it. If they do, just proceed with the repair on your own dime and let life go on. |

I'd get it fixed on my own dime and leave nasty Yelp reviews with details and pics...and then forget about it. I'd be incredibly pissed off, but I've learned the hard way to let things go.

Very little chance of getting the car wash to pay. Would be pissed but does not look like I would do anything with it after they turn you down.

I appreciate all the input. I wondered if anyone would say anything about the gaps around the rondel. And, I know that life is too short to focus on the car wash folks. It's tempting , but my time is precious. I spend days being that guy for other people and am worn out when it comes to myself. I am getting used to the imperfection. I appreciate the perspective comments as well, but will continue to park at the back of the lot, avoid valet parking, stress when following a rock truck, avoid freshly tarred roads, and remind my kids to avoid hitting the car with their bikes.
In closing, the car wash company sent an email today saying not their fault and I should talk to my own insurance company. I may just badger them a bit more before I leave it all behind me. |
