That's in part because American publications such as C&D use a one-foot roll-out as per NHRA practice for their acceleration numbers while BMW numbers don't. That one-foot roll-out is worth ~0.3 seconds. I doubt the RWD version will be much faster, there's traction limit to what can be achieved with a front engined RWD car shod with street tires.

Just look at the lines.
Previous model with the boomerang integrated and a continuous flow and look at the new one.
The door arch was also integrated in the line flow on the old model, like it was "pushed" by the aerodynamic wind putting more emphasis on the hips of the vehicle. The window margin was also flowing with the door line by adding the vertical lip. The handle was also part of the long line, being aligned and wonderful integrated.
The new door vertical line is round, is not part of none of the lines, the window line is out of sync and the lower line does not continue the visual flow like on the previous model. The funny thing in top of that is that the door handle gap is huge, unaesthetic and out of sync with any of the two body lines.
I get the rebellious attempt, but man, the most basic elements of design flow where left behind. Forget about the rest...

Now look at the face profile.
Old one had a better, more mean presence. the new one looks like stupid dumb face...

Yea my manual e92 was like low 3600s, that's why I dont get everyone saying it's a 500 lb increase.

IIRC, "Twin Power" was used to describe twin scroll single turbos.

It's definitely going to be faster but I'm surprised the figures don't reflect it a bit more. For example the RWD M340i is rated at 4.4 while car and driver were able to get 3.8. So maybe this will push into the low 3's but just surprised it's not advertised at 3.6 or so.
AWD and lite mods =high 2's? AWD is a definite edge for 0-60 times. eg: M5
But that's where the advantage will end, especially for the track. AWD will likely push that pig over 4000 lbs....with an auto....no thanks!
M5 and M8 are very fast pigs 🐖

Nope, it's quite less than that.

They're making people buy into the AWD version to get it to 3.5sec. Which is what BMW wants us to do, spend more money and get away from manual transmission.
Maybe, but I am not obsessed with 0-60. Once you get down to 4 seconds, going faster is not relevant to me, but better torque, tractability and driving dynamics are.

Exactly. There's a limit to what be achieved traction wise with a RWD platform. I am eager to see the 100-200km/h acceleration figures. That is what matters to me (for track performance). Albeit the weight remains my biggest concern.

IMO, it's more like a ~300lb increase. Still massive though.

473 hp @ 6250 RPM / 503 hp @ 6250 RPM (Competition)
406 lb-ft @ 2650-6130 RPM (core) / 479 lb-ft @ 2750-5500 RPM (Competition)

Still surprised that they didn't do more with the power. My C63 S dog transporter from 2016 comes with 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft whilst my wife's M3 comp pack has 444hp and 406 lb-ft and is also quite a bit lighter.

End of great motoring era BMW. Non of the G series look good, lacking elegance, glamor,Contemporary design and BMWness. Meanwhile audi coming up with incredible designs. I wished they have more handling dynamics and character

M4 is now longer and heavier than my Mustang GT, which I already felt was a bit oversized.

I've been longing for another M car since I sold my E46 M3 years ago. This year I'm finally in a position where I can swing it and I was really hoping I would love this redesign, but once it was clear which direction the design was going I opted to place an order for an M2 Competition instead. Seeing the unmasked versions unfortunately hasn't changed my mind at all.

Loving my F80 competition next to this G80. not just from aesthetics but also spec's point of view. It holds its own especially when you consider the lighter weight and a real DCT.

It seems BMW cars are just becoming too heinous and comical for someone like me. It will be a long friendship with my F80 and then maybe a 911... or AMG if I must have 4 doors ....

what were they thinking ?

Why did bmw even bother making g80/g82? Worse looking than f80/f82 in every way, 300 lbs heavier and 5 inches longer, absolutely no improvement in acceleration if not worse. I'm glad I kept my f80 and will probably keep it forever.
