Wonder what will happen to all the MY'22s that don't get allocations. Will they be prioritized over the people lining up for the '23 allocations? I ask because I see a lot of people here talking about being first in line for a MY'23 allocation..

I agree, at this point I don't really care as long as I get my damn car

Chatting with the sales manager at my dealer today he mentioned MY '23 orders can't be submitted yet even though folks are lining up for those allocations. At some point in June he thinks BMW will accept orders for the new model year.
I know!!! Same here!

My dealer didn't get any allocations at the end of March or beginning of April and normally they get one or two for M3's. I think this correlates with all the push outs. Now at least my status is received and estimated for week 26 but not sure since is not scheduled for production. Anyway we know could change again let's see if get formally scheduled again.

Dealerships can maintain whatever queue they want, and they vary in their approach. (Unfortunate, btw, since it can get pretty confusing with what a numbered position really means across different models/variants.)

But if the factory has already accepted an order, and then needs to defer that order for a MY23, then they will notify the CA/customer and allow them to modify the order (based on the updated order guide), and then apply a new production week (28+). Any new allocations for MY23 would, therefore, be assigned to later weeks. calbears can confirm if this sounds right...

When the transition happened last year, some MY21 orders were moved to MY22 and some CA & customer were not diligent.

Laser lights were a part of Executive package in MY21. BMW removed Laser lights from Executive package and had it as standalone option for MY22. Those who were not diligent ended up getting their MY22 vehicles without laser lights.

Right, but presumably the MY22 order form was available and customers at least theoretically had the opportunity to review changes, right? I'm guessing at least some CA's lazily told customers "no change, other than xDrive option" and lasers were missed.

That's unfortunate. I'd argue that the responsibility should fall on the CA to inform the customer of changes like that.

Agreed they should, but many don’t, mine included. Didn’t tell me parking assist was available for my ‘21 G22, or that the sensatec seats didn’t have bolster adjustments.

One question, then if I have my production order and right now is tentative for this week 26, if this schedule is pushed out again again and I'm out the '22 model, I will still maintain my production number and I don't need to be worried about getting a new allocation for a '23, correct?

Yeah, the updated order guide was available. People just assumed nothing changes other than xDrive introduction.

I would agree partially. If i am spending my $90k on something, i would be diligent about the purchase as well.

Do you need to call the genius line for week updates or am I missing something on the site? I called once and found out I was week 25.

Thanks but I don't know. Since the existing order number is tied to a specific MY22 order, I'm guessing it's cancelled and replaced with a new one, but I'm not sure. Your CA can verify if/when you get bumped.

Yep, it's the only way to find out until you begin production. But I prefer emailing them; don't have to deal with phone menus and hold times. bmwgenius@bmwusa.com

Thanks. Hopefully we all stay on the 22s as I imagine the 23 will have a price hike . I was so anxious to get an allocation last few months and it seems whether I got it in a few months earlier I’d be still where I’m at now.

I imagine that's what is going to happen. This happened last year with the X1 allocations that got switched to 22 MY. Don't think any customers were affected for us.

Have to see what happens with order bank orders for the i4 and iX as well. BMW has already begun production on the iX M60 (MY23) even though they're still building iX 50 (MY22).

Still at 111. Unlike the last time we got delayed, in my case week 12 to week 19 and within 3 days back to week 16 at 112, tomorrow will be a week at 111.

Interesting, we are in week 26 but not scheduled. I'm thinking potentially my order will be pushed out more or they are looking if they can build these orders as 2022 or push them out to 2023

I'm in week 22 and still at 102 (individual build). From what I gather, 102/111 and 112 statuses are pretty irrelevant these days and people seem to be going back and forth between the two while also getting their estimated build weeks pushed back/moved forward. I presume BMW is as unsure of their scheduling as we are and are not as concerned with scheduling cars for production several weeks in advance as they are with handling the current week at hand.

I need to preface this with; who the hell really knows! These are crazy, unsettled times for auto makers, but! Normally your car will move to 112 about a month before it’s due to go into production. The operative word here is ‘normally’. I’m a week 19 build and I read the week threads before and after my build week to get a sense of what’s what and I fear for anyone in your build week. BMW may push back the start of MY 23 in order to fill MY 22 orders, they may not, but they might have to during these crazy times. Here’s what you got going for you; they want to sell you a car! Build it then is what I say!
