CA/SA - Gift?
Do you guys give anything to your CA? I am thinking of $100 but unsure of what people typically do. I know we don't have to give anything but still..

Even if it was the norm, I think that it would be inappropriate for you to do so given your experience – they should be giving you something!

Honestly I've put it behind me and at the end of the day I know it was out of his control and a lot of my negative comments were pure frustration.

They, the dealers, NA and bmw are making a mint right now. Not a chance would i give an additional gift when all most are doing is acting as a waiter/waitress at Applebee's and taking your order.
They should be giving the gift.... Sorry.

They are making a killing.. They used to give bigger gifts but all I got was a useless Keychain. No need to worry they are doing very well. Save that for a good night out

When I got my X5 in May, I gave my CA $100. He really appreciated it. Don't plan on getting him anything for the m3 though.

My original CA was fired. The second one was a nice guy. Kept me updated regularly. But aside from a few phone calls/texts, he didn't go above and beyond. I don't ever see giving any car salesman a gift card.
When you work in sales, the best gift you can give is a referral. That I will do. |

My Sales Manager gave me $1,000 credit at the parts department when it was all said and done because of the fiasco that was buying my G82. I couldn't even stomach the thought of giving anything to them.

Hah, THEY should be giving US a gift with our car - an ///M license plate frame, a t-shirt, etc. I wouldn't ever give a car salesman a gift. Whoops, I meant "client advisor."

Lol, paying MSRP for a car and giving them a gift? They're banking on commission. They should be giving you a gift.

As others have pointed out, when they sell at MSRP it's only a few extra thousand for us, but it's literally three times their normal profit margin (e.g. compared to a couple of years ago when invoice + $1k was pretty common). They are making a killing.
OTOH, if you are lucky enough to have a really outstanding CA who went above and beyond -- and most of them are far from that, unfortunately -- then a gift card or other token gift might be appropriate/appreciated. (As for SA's, likewise if they helped you out with a nagging/persistent issue, and/or bent the rules on warranty coverage for something that was perhaps questionable, then certainly a gift would be appreciated. I also know guys who always bring a box of donuts when bringing the car in for service as a way to grease the figurative wheels. That may be wise as well.)

It never hurts to be classy:
The CA I dealt with for my '18 C63s for Euro delivery is legendary (e.g., one phone call and two e-mails and we had a deal at 9.25% below MSRP). My wife and I were coincidentally traveling and I called and asked if we could meet face to face. He said he would be at the dealership in an hour so we shopped at a Trader Joe's to kill time and I bought some wine. On impulse, I gave him a $10 bottle of Norton (Argentine red). Turned out his wife is from Argentina, and we chatted about our respective multiple visits there. In Europe I put some curb rash on both drivers side wheels in a medieval street and took a rock to the windshield before turning in my car to be shipped to the U.S. Getting a replacement windshield proved to be "problematical" (heads-up display, no stock in the U.S.). He made a phone call. Four days later I had my car with a new windshield and two new wheels. No charge. Not even a comment.

If they’re good then a referral is plenty considering they’re profiting already.

I have sent plenty of referrals to my CA and that might be the best gift.

I got a very nice umbrella, bmw mugs/cups, wallet, keychains and a few other goodies. He even came on his day off to make this day extra special given the slew of issues. Well worth the wait, now to rack up 1200 miles. I guess it's fine for icecream!
