Congrats to everyone that got their M4 CSL or is yet to take delivery. It's truly a special car. I wish I had reserved one a while ago when I had a chance. I guess if I end up liking it too much I can pick one up in a couple of years from you guys for a hefty premium.
Depending on how disappointed I am with mine when it finally arrives, i might sell you mine for whatever salvage value a G82 with a factory body kit & tune sells for…

Every BMW since my E46 M3 has disappointed me. I ordered mine on the remote chance that BMW remembered how to build a visceral and engaging sports coupe. Who knows, maybe the searing reviews will come out before mine arrives, and save me the brain damage of buying it.

Marv

You remind me of the Looney Tunes cartoons where the coyote gets hit by an oncoming truck. Flattened like a pancake, he gets up, dusts himself in the middle of the road, only to get hit by another truck coming from the opposite direction.

If you've been disappointed with every BMW since the E46M3, may I ask, why do you keep buying them?

I'm looking into swapping for the full bucket seats as I will be using the car mostly for promotional and track use.

If anyone is interested in the power seats for their full buckets I can facilitate the transport/shipping or meet you.

Other than that the car is amazing! I have been calling all dealerships for the last 3-4 weeks and just got lucky a few days ago. Called as it was coming off of the truck one morning, not allocated and for MSRP. I stopped what I was doing and put a deposit on it within the hour. They said it was the fastest a car has ever sold after coming off the truck. Very lucky and excited to bring our expertise from the b58 platform over to the s58.
And now you are flipping for 195k. Asshat

I’m just gauging the market and inflating the value of the model if anything which works in favor to all who own one. I’m not selling unless someone offers me a crazy price. Already planning on an eventuri intake, some other carbon parts and have a company working on top mount single turbo kits. I don’t believe I will do so with this one but will be offering for the g8x
So then what's your thoughts on the car? Or are you just keeping it in plastic until an offer?

Currently I have only taken it down the road to put a full tank of 93 in it. It was shipped with less than a gallon.

My first impressions are definitely positive. Suspension feel and responsive is tight. Definitely valved for road course use. Interior is beautiful, the lighted csl badges on the seats are beautiful along with the yellow dlr and laser rear taillights.

With only a few miles on the engine I did not want to get above 4K so drove her very mildly about 5 miles with various rpm. I plan on doing a proper break in as we would a fresh b58 build. If I do any modification it will be very tasteful. Eventuri intake, csf intake manifold, motiv reflex with lpfp and pi. Pure drivetrain solutions stage 2 transmission. I want to keep it as clean as possible if anything. Might go without the manifold as I want it to remain stock appearance.

It sure appears the Eventuri might not fit under the strut brace. Interested about this.

I'm lost, why keep talking like you are keeping it but then have it listed in multiple places, even actively moving your WCC price around.. We've all been there, if you are flipping then flip it, the shit comes when you pretend like you are.... You are not "helping" the value unless you actually sell it, listing it without a sale not doing much for anything, I do enjoy the altruistic pitch though, it's a good one :-)

He wants the perceived social media clout of ownership combined with the profit from a flip. You don't get both.

I think he's probably trying to determine if keeping it can help promote his business relative to potential profit from the flip. I guess if he got a bunch of responses to a sale attempt, then it might be more valuable to keep, if he gets one interested party, better to sell.

Probably wants it listed as many places as possible when the press embargo lifts which is soon.

I’ve been looking to enter the G8X market for some time now due to Ecu tuning being locked out by Bosch I have been waiting a few years. We can now clone the Ecus on to pre dated ones before Bosch changed the security. This vehicle just so happened to land at the dealership within 30 min of me calling. It made sense to pick it up but if an individual wants this unit for 40-50 over msrp I would be crazy not to let it go and purchase a standard m4 comp. I think most would be in the same boat as me if this happened to land infront of them. Especially with the way I want to use the car, I’ll end up putting 30-50 into it to develop the platform. I just would hate to do so on a collectors edition.

I’m honestly torn as I want to keep it but my colleagues and other industry professionals are telling me to move it especially if I want to modify.

Unless someone offers me a stupid offer I’m keeping it and sending to SEMA after building.

ventura. Yeah doesn't look like I can change the build on mine despite it not being assigned a production slot yet. Annoying but really its just the red stripes that bug me. Ultimately the powered seats will be more practical and you can always change the tires.

Am I the only one who thinks the CSL isn't fundamentally different enough from the standard M4C to warrant all this hype and the price premium?

Sure it's lighter than the regular M4, but it still weighs over 3,600lbs, so not like it's going to be some nimble sports car. Also, it only comes in RWD which means off the line, it probably won't be any faster than the xdrive m4 or be even slower.

The 50hp bump over the regular m4 is obviously nothing more than an ECU tune bmw done on their lunch break to bump up the boost, which anyone could do with a piggyback for $800. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this, but I don't think they've done anything to improve the s58 at the hardware level? It's just running a more aggressive ecu tune to get that 50hp?

I think most of the Nurburgring laptime improvement over the standard car, came from the ultra aggressive tyres which could also be fitted to the standard car as the dimensions of the wheels between the two are identical.

I do like the looks of it, but I don't buy into the specialness aspect of it. Fundamentally, underneath it's just a regular G82 with the rear seats removed. I know I'll get hate for saying this, let me have it

all things true, but always nice having a limited prod vehicle.

This is the last M3/4 w/o electric shit right? If so, M5CS, M4CSL going down as GOAT for bmw..

You should research on what made the recent M4CS, M2CS and M5CS so good to drive and appreciated by professional reviewers and owners. There is more than meets the eye.

There is some truth to what you say but some obvious things you haven't considered. The most obvious omission is the significant changes to the suspension and chassis, which you haven't mentioned at all. Sure you could do an aftermarket build to match the CSL but that will probably devalue a normal G82 and will still never be a CSL. Factory changes to a car are more highly prized than mods will ever be.

I am aware of those changes but I didn't mention them because I am skeptical on exactly how "significant" they are. I've watched the presentation with the bmw engineer and he glossed over the exact details. Any time I watch a presentation of a new limited edition trim and the engineers who are normally very detail oriented, do not give me much detail on the changes they've made, that raises a red flag to me.
