Anti-Dazzle Testing and Software Updates
Recently had Anti-Dazzle activated and the CS features programmed (over the air) on my 2024 M4 but haven't had an opportunity to go out at night to test the Anti-Dazzle feature out in actual conditions. Anyone know of a good way to test their operation either when driving at night or without driving the car (if that's possible)?
Part of the reason I ask this is because my research led me to believe the only thing needed to prevent software updates (that would undo any coding done) was to turn them off in the phone app. I looked on the car just in case and couldn't find anything concerning software updates and all I saw was to "search for updates". However when I got in the car yesterday and started it, it said "software updates installed". What is that all about????? The date on the update was 03/2024. Was that an update that was released long ago or just making it to the M cars? Up until I had the car coded within the last month) I kept the updates current as soon as I was notified. the apps and the map software in the car can update separate from remote software (istep) upgrade and it is fine for that to happen.
that said, you need to disable software updates from within the car, not from the app. the option to do it is in the data privacy settings and is not obvious to find it. |

Thanks for the reply. I really do appreciate it. I Finally found it in the vehicle. Guess I didn't scroll down the first time. I interpret BMW's description for the option "Remote Software Update allows you to update the vehicle software by yourself" as If 'checked' the update is a manual process through an app and if 'unchecked' no vehicle software updates are allowed. That seems to mean that there are no "Automatic Updates" and I have to do it manually for any updates to be installed. Why then did it display "Software Updates Installed" when I got in the car like they were installed automatically while the car was idle in my garage. Or were they referring not to 'vehicle' software but 'App' software? I'm thinking that since I didn't download and install 'Vehicle Software Updates' myself my coding is safe. What do you think? |
