i would still go CS unless your wife is nagging about it. i'm looking at the pics and you could probably have a shop custom fab something to hold standard sized drinks in the door card.

I have a CS coming (black/gold wheels/steel brakes) but am back and forth on whether it is worth it (have a G80 m3 now). I do agree the color palette is weak and I usually steer clear of black cars just due to maintenance but black also appears the best on this model. I was hoping some of those who have cars already would give driving impressions...

Given your use case, I think you’ll be happier with the M3 Comp. Sure, the CS might get you better lap times for the occasional track sessions, but I assume you are looking to improve your lap times versus passing more cars on the track. If so, get the Comp and enjoy the added comforts and color choices.

Another one for the comp. The CS is nice, extra HP and all. But its a downgrade on the practicality of what makes the standard M3 so attractive as a daily driver. CS if you track it and show it. M3 Comp to haul the family and gear while outperforming 98% of all other cars on the road. Safe Travels in what ever you decide!

For a family DD, I'd take the compx over the CS.

Funny, my wife also drives a Tesla Model Y Performance.

Get the CS, if you do not like it, sell or trade it in and go the other route.

Funny, I was really struggling with this decision too and my wife has a new Model Y.

At the end of the day, I am trying to make the M3 my everything car with some AutoX and HPDE, I think I'd rather the M3 suspension and 3D camera 90% of the time. Just my 0.02$%

Make sure you take your wife to a local dealership and have her sit in the carbon bucket seats before you make your purchase.

Lol this is a good way to ensure a strike against it. Unless she’s like into cars as much as you are…

Versus sitting in the CS the 99% of the time you aren't on a track and complaining about the lack of added creature comforts.

The CS is cool man, I def would get it, but I would not pay more for it.

I think you are better off going individual with CCB and CFB if that’s your jam.

Comes out to around $116k, no ADM bullshit and you get an ostensibly better looking car. How much “better” the CS is around a track I have no idea. It wasn’t my concern.

Nobody drinks coffee in my car, or anything else but water, so the cupholders are actually storage bin for parking tickets, which I could easily give up

Thanks all!

Re pricing - I’m getting allocation for both cars at MSRP without adm. Lucky to have a reasonable dealer who I know well. I called few other dealerships in my area and all have adm, which ranged quite a bit.

spilled coffee on new GT4 bucket seats the first week i had the car ... stuuuupid!

i was looking at some cup holder options for the CS ... something that either sits on the seat or in the abyss/gap between seat and console. i then imagined those devices completely coming loose and hitting the dash creating a giant mess on my maiden voyage.

water-only seems like a good play.

I think, at least something I’m going to consider, would be something like Thermoflask or Yeti cups that can sit inside the door. Keeps coffee/latte’s hot and has somewhat of a spill or splash proof lid.

Will depend on how much clearance is inside the door.

Yep.

If you're taking you're car out a few times/month to hammer it around and enjoy all that went into the engineering, the CS may be worth it, as a low-mileage toy.

But as a regular car, used all the time...to run a few errands, or to go out to dinner in, G8X Comp or Base is more useful to me.

I average 23k miles/year in my G8X, and I enjoy every single one of its creature comforts (and it's relative silence when I want it).

We have a Model 3. I would add to your list:

Quick
Quiet
Comfortable
Low cost of ownership (very little maintenance, few moving parts)
Well-integrated technology

In CA I was able to change my electricity plan to a special EV plan, and I calculated that the car was costing us an additional $11 per month on top of our prior average bill.

CS is just a compx with 5 more PSI and may a trans tune. With all the loss in creature comforts I can't see the point of it. Aftermarket would out do the CS in every way with suspension upgrades etc.
