I dont like Digital gauges yet

So the new Ms gets an LCD dash with double tach and digital speedo (no analog speedo)?

I figured being a drivers car the Ms would keep analog guages or at the very least have software options to change to a LCD display which is more traditional. What do you think?

Lol dude are you like 70yrs old? No real race car has had a non digital speedo or tach since like the 90s. Look at any race car from cup racers to any formula or anything for that matter...

Drivers car don't need analog dash...old people do...

2020 Ferrari F8, I suppose they are catering to the 70+ yr old crowd...

Yes, many cars are going digital, doesn't mean its automatically superior for track,sport,real life. Doesnt mean bmw's implementation is automatically great, there's different ways to design things. Bmw can also offer a software option for a style which displays radial needles for speed, tach, in my opinion they should

Digital dashes have been around since like 2008 in honda civics and toyota priuses, they arent new and everything about them isnt great. I get that they are the future, I am expressing my dissatisfaction that the version default (apparently) for M is digital speedo readout and vertical meter for the tach. A digital but rotational display for these would be great.

Expressing dislike is the reason that the idrive doesnt suck anymore, bmw improved it to help sales/profits after people complained. If you dont think bmw reads or gets notified about public opinions you are mistaken. If u like the LCD design thats great. I dont

I would like to see more software options for displays on the dash. Audi has 4-6 options for their lcd dash, bmw should do the same. One of the options should be more like outgoing models f10, f36 and all cars ever before them, which have rotational needle-based displays. this can easily be mimicked in software, bmw themselves have done it in the g30 5 series - which is a design i like

The problem isn't that the dash is digital, its the ugly display options (or I should say lack of options) that BMW provides. They should follow Merc, Audi, hell even JLR's lead and offer different display styles and options. More customizations for the buyer is always appreciated, and should be fairly simple since these cars can get over the air updates.

The counterclockwise RPM gauge is terrible, and the shape is weird. Also the screen is way too dark, plenty of reviewers have felt the same.

I'd be cool with digital gauges that were simply round and classic BMW looking in appearance.

I like digital clusters. I thought the S2000 had one of the best and it was an absolute joy to drive.

Of course it kinda needed it since it revved so high and so fast it was easy to bang the needle off the end. I think the BMW design could be a bit cleaner, but it's fine overall. It's definitely much better than digital cockpit pro or whatever it's called on the current new M Sport cars. I just wish the redline was a little higher but that's obviously an engine issue.

I miss Honda as they used to be. Now they are just just a moldy shell with a sea of uninspiring offerings below the excellent but pricey NSX.

Isn't the 992 just a digital representation of analog gauges? I'm fine with those too, but it seems like a waste of resources to do it that way. What everyone should do is have two or three different profiles. One which just replicates analog gauges, another which is a sports display with a large numeric speed indicator and sweeping rev counter, and maybe another one which is very basic and uncluttered for relaxed driving. Oh and maybe another that is map centric for finding directions.

Guess you should call Porsche and tell them they are doing it wrong. 992s including the latest turbo still have them front and center. Also that "drivers don't need analog dash...old people do."

Out of any gauge in the car that's the one I want to be clearest if that means its analog I will take it, oh well.

The 992 cluster is not "all" digital... The center tacho is still analogue.

My first impressions with digital dashes have not been good (with the exception of the g30 5 series which I consider more of a hybrid since in includes some elements of both). I sat in a Lamborghini recently and despite all of the race element it had, the digital dash left me feeling disconnected with the engine and pulse of the car. And they just look so flat. This M design doesnt make me anxious to upgrade to the G80 the way I wished to upgrade to the F80 a few years ago

It seems like this car shares its tach with other new G chassis M cars like the M8, in where the vertical tach is only displayed when you're in "M Mode". Otherwise it should still have the two somewhat rotational tachs.

And I completely agree with you, BMW needs to step up their "tach game" because they're not up to par with Audi or Mercedes...once can even make a case they're going backwards. I personally loved the F90 M5 tach...even the F32 4 series digital dash was great.
