Was there also. Both cars drove better than expected with surprisingly stiff chassis. 3 was a lot easier to drive. Purposely overdrove the 2 series to try and feel the x drive, but car just bogged in auto. With the turbo engines l think manual would give you so much more confidence that you're in the right gear.
I was on track 3 which was super tight and really not a good fit for testing these big heavy high HP cars. Only one section where you could string some corners, get a little speed and feel the chassis and suspension work. But it was free and manned by working pros so that was cool. Overall good event by BMW to promote the cars. Z4 looked nice in person. |

G80 a much, much better looking package. Rear bumper design's also a better looking one than the G82. The line from reflector to reflector, just below the plate holder, is much lower on the G80. The bumper crease and folds from the 3/4 rear view, much less pronounced on the M3.

Now, if BMW would only offer the Priordesign front end redesign as a "BMW Performance " dealer added option, I might consider making the new M3 BMW #10 for me. |

i saw those seats in the M4 at the secret showing on M track day... The seats are really , really tasty!!! The seats and the head lamps were my (only) favorite things on the car...
I wonder if they have accounted for our fatness and the ability of an American thigh fitting in the gaps they provided ![]()

I don't like the side skirts. Makes the car look high. I'd rather have body lores skirts with a black blade. Front splitter is tiny, rear is huge and I'd rather they be carbon fiber.

I got to see and sit in the green M3 at my dealership this week.
BEAUTIFUL! The car just doesn't photograph well.

Quite like the G80 except for the frozen colours, as for the G82 it's just too bland.
Not a fan of the 19s on the front, too much sidewall, needs 20s all round. I'm sure there's some reason for it but it looks shit.

It's worse in an autoX, where I'd add throttle progressively out of a turn only to find no response. More throttle, nothing. Then the turbo finally builds enough boost and it smacks you in the face, and you're way out of position because you asked for that power 100ft ago. And as you said, it's not exactly a looker. The 340 was on a different planet for me, capabilities-wise.

Let me phrase the question like this: Isle of Man green looks different (to me) in these pics versus other pics we have seen. Would you say these pics are an accurate representation of what the color looks like in person? I had been considering the color until someone posted pictures of it next to a YMB F80 at a Canadian event and thought it looked very boring compared to YMB, my all time favorite color.

I do track, so unless they forgot to set it up because the event moved so fast, I didn't like it.

I found the throttle to be responsive, and turn in to be sharp with some push towards the limit, which was fine because of how the course was laid out-most turns opened up and only one had a decreasing radius. That was the only corner I could tell that the M235i lacked compared to the M2, a tad of understeer at that corner. With trail braking allowing for good rotation, I found every other corner very fun to navigate. A sharp mid-speed right sacrificed into a quick left was the most fun to navigate as I found the M235i easy to transition and the FWD biased AWD allowed early throttle on corner exit to a sweeping right into that decreasing radius turn before the front straight. That slight push at the limit was probably what made the car so easy to place on this course. After adjusting to it on the first lap, I could anticipate when that push came and aim for the corner exit and start to squeeze the throttle a bit early. That allowed for as much throttle time as possible as the car straightened. I think PERHAPS you might have been late in the throttle, as someone who tracks a RWD myself, I did that the first lap as well. Too late on the throttle and the DSC might have already sensed the understeer and started intervening, limiting your access to throttle. We are used to keeping that rear tame until we start to unwind the wheel. Being a FWD platform with AWD, I figured I could get on it earlier, especially with that slight push at the limit. Additionally, keep in mind that the M235i has a FRONT LSD. It's going to power out of understeer much differently than our RWD cars. Anyway, that's my take on it. I'm no pro, but I was surprised that I liked how the car drove. I absolutely hated the idea of a FWD based bimmer and the looks made me hate it even more.
