Anyway, dont mean to argue, thats just how I felt on the new g80/82 and even just the new 4 series and non m 3 series. They just look like kid cars to me, and they keep growing in length and weight

Maybe once I see the new M in person, and give it a drive, I will change my mind.

I hope im wrong, honestly.
No harm, no foul. I paid less for my CS than I paid for my base F80 on a lease. You must be an "old soul" to drive such a classic car that's 30 years older than you are lol.

In the last 14 years, the M3 has grown 12 inches (E46 EOP to G80 SOP). I mean, it could be worse.

That is a cool car!

All older cars are way cooler and get much more attention at any of my local cars events that I attend. The older the better and the youngest people who attend have mostly air-cooled 911's, but all of them drive a mini, golf, civic, ev, etc... during the week. I would not even take a G80 to an event, nobody would care, but that is not the appeal to the car.

The appeal to the G80: The last manual transmission in a family hauler (I have 3 kids), the new M5 in my mind, new car warranty, put as many miles on it as possible, daily driver. As a one-car-do-it-all solution, there is nothing else like it for an enthusiast, even with the flaws. The flaws are what make it so appealing, it is big and bloated because of its duality.

Me too. I find hard tops too heavy.

was the soft top brought back merely for aesthetics? I mean why not a hardtop cabrio? just asking

I suspect the roof has grown too long in the sense that it canít be folded efficiently as a hard top.

Weight. Defiantly not aesthetics. I don't know who would think it looks better with a fabric roof.

For what it's worth, my dealer told me that the reason why was because a rear-end collision essentially totaled the car because of the hard top and the mechanisms taking up the entire trunk. Not sure if that's true, but that's what I was told.
