My $5 still say it uses the F8X 6mt, not the Bronco
I believe you just earn yourself $5; I remember reading that the G8X has the same manual gearbox as the F8X..

I just hate when folks make outlandish claims with nothing to back it up; it serves to help no one and just adds to the confusion.

In 2020, it's not at all difficult to add a link or anything with some supporting substance but I digress..

One time a BMW engineer was asked why they have trouble sourcing 6MTs that take lots of torque when american cars have manuals in things like the Viper. The engineer politely said they had indeed tested them but they were not up to snuff.

So for them to use a manual that's coming out in a car that's a $50k cowboy hat, not even a sports car, is really hard to believe

Besides, they made improvements in the 6MT of the F8X, it had low enough friction to not require dedicated cooling. Why not amortize that through one more gen?

We have been told there is new tech. What that means - good or bad IDK.

lemetier says the changes are noticeable in this vid.

Anything anyone notices that might be new? I believe there is now some computer protection for the clutch even when rev-match is turned off.....

All I notice is that this guy puts my heel-to-toe to shame and it makes me hate myself after driving stick for 20 years.

Lucky you don't have to worry about it on the GXX M3/4. I surprisingly love the auto-rev matching feature!

I drove my F80 in Sport+ exclusively (except on long road trips skiing when I didnt want to stop for gas every 2 hours lol) because I love to match my own revs.

Better man than myself. I like to think I am a hardcore manual guy through and through. But just became lazy and got swept away by how perfect it does it every time!

...don't look at me...I feel ashamed and dirty 😝

In your M2 can you toggle between Rev Matching and not in different throttle maps?

Nope, can only disable rev matching off by disability traction control. No thanks, not worth it for me with normal driving.

Horrible lack of functionality of BMW's part.

Auto Rev match can be easily disabled via Bimmercode in the M2. Takes 5 minutes. The only down side is that one has to push the start button twice to start the engine. I kept it on when I got the car but then turned it off for a while. Now it's back on. I like the flexibility.

It's on in all 3 throttle maps?

No I should have clarified. It is disabled when in Sport+ but stays on when in Efficient and Sport; unless one codes it off entirely via bimmercode.

Just like the F80 (although towards the end of production rev match was on in all 3 modes).

Agreed ... an on/off toggle is so simple and offered on many cars... how do they overlook this?

I don't know about the rest of you. But I love the auto-rev matching feature. Idk in a modern car, it is greatly appreciated.

I like it too, but I do wish it could be shut off in any mode via selections in iDrive.

Agreed. There are few greater feelings in the world than blipping the throttle perfectly on a 5th to 3rd downshift and knowing that you are, undoubtedly, the greatest driver in the world. The reason I drove my car in Sport+ almost exclusively was to have rev matching off.

Also, it was a pain in the a** mentally to adjust to rev matching sometimes, not rev matching other times, because it is actually a lot of work.

Has a German automaker ever used a Tremec transmission? Tremec makes transmissions that can handle a lot of power/torque for domestics but they are hit and miss and not the smoothest. The TR-6060 is probably just not refined enough for BMW as Charger and Camaro owners have lots of complaints.

I doubt it. But they did look into it as my prior post said, I read it somewhere. Unfortunately they found they were too agricultural
