How did this turn into the anti-EV BS, again. I’m not sure why people are triggered by new technology. Buy what you want. I honestly hate Teslas, but if that’s what you want to drive, have at it.
In the US, no one buying a BMW EV gets incentives. First of all, they are only for poor people (income under $150k or $300k for a couple ), only for cheap cars (under $50k). BMW cars and buyers meet zero of those criteria. Anyway, I think it’s cool because Rimac will supply only specific vehicles, my guess is Rolls Royce. |

The real genius was dragging a gas sports car platform into a discussion about EVs, and using that to somehow bash the company for avoiding EVs! BRILLIANT! |

I feel like this is a Good Partnership with Rimac and BMW Working Together. But also Bugatti and Rimac are working together for a new Hybrid V16. Also, EV’s are loosing interest if you look at Lucid and other brands. I’ve gotten this feeling of people only move from they’re normal Honda’s and Toyota Products to a Tesla as it’s this new “Status Symbol” and it’s a “Flex”. I mean it’s no Rolls Royce or Bentley or something of that Status or Quality but I feel like the Government is pushing EV’s past they’re limits and not letting Automakers build what they want. And adding on, Don’t EV’s Pollute more? They charge via Gas Generators, Mining for Lithium, Etc. I mean Top Gear in the 2000’s did an Episode on the Toyota Prius and they used an E90 M3 and it just had to keep up to the Toyota around the track, the Prius I believe got 17 MPG and the M3 got 19 MPG, And the way they build it from Canada, To Japan, All around the world EV’s just don’t make sense, Period.

You must have heard about design patents etc, it could get complex quite quickly. And in all senses, there seems a bit of a political monopoly of Kia designers within BMW. Lol

No BS,
I have a large pack battery and use only about 10% daily as my DD. This isn't a cross country road trip car or a commuter car. If it was my gas bill would also be MUCH larger.

I love Rimac, I hope they have some cool solid state technology in their R&D lab. I’d consider a performance hybrid (not full EV) but only if they can come out with a lightweight high performance version.
The current XM powertrain is obscenely heavy and complicated.

Look at the billions of EV write-offs happening across the automotive sector right now. Hybrids are the perfect bridging technology given the crap state of our grid infrastructure and charging network. There are also geopolitical considerations to factor in here…Over reliance on bad regimes for raw materials for batteries is a problem. Germany ran into this issue with Russia, only it was with natural gas instead of lithium.

Agreed, imagine being so blinded by EV junk that you think Toyota who has the lowest MDS (market days supply) of any manufacturer and just launched another vehicle last night that will have year+ waitlists (to join other year+ long wait list cars) is in a “catch up mode” position.
Meanwhile, my wife got fed up with her EV and shopped it to a few local dealers and the used car manager at Honda said “we honestly don’t want the car so I can’t even give you a number, EV’s don’t sell and I don’t want them on my lot”. If we tried to sell our RAV4 Prime, I would have them falling all over themselves trying to give me their best offer. Clearly Toyota is doing something wrong here. |

Talk about want. As a serial M car owner and brand enthusiast for many years, I have zero want for BMWs current range of offering, ICE or EV.
ICE because of styling, weight increase and the stupid touchscreen interior. EV because of their conservative approach doesn’t make them stand out. But if Rivian were to release the R3X today, I’d gift my X2 to my son and buy it, on the spot, cash in hand. That is hard want, and I wasn’t expecting it at all. I wonder if in the near future BMW will produce a car, EV or not, that I would so wholeheartedly embrace from a styling, coolness factor and performance standpoint.

The problem here isn’t BMW. It’s stupid government laws that force this down everyone’s throat so quick and so fast and finally turned the leaf on everything a few months ago they have to set up and assembly lines a years in advance For changes like this so when things go backtrack, it’s gonna take likely just as long to undo those changes. You probably are looking at between the 2 1/2 to 3 your window before they switch over to a more hybrid platform which I think is definitely the best solution overall.

But that's what the elitists want anyway, destroy the middle class and nothing is left but the rulers and the poor. It seems like something like that happened in another country far away a long time ago. |
