Most likely one of these two reasons or both:
1. You're hitting the boost safety. Go into Map 6 settings and raise your boost safety to 30 PSI. This affects all maps, not just 6. 2. You're running too lean. Did you test the ethanol and do your calculation correct? If E30 mix is correct then it's fine but if you're above E35 then JB4 will hit the safety if running too lean. |

Seems like bad idea to just raise the safety unless you know it's safe to do so. What boost levels are you running and on what fuel?

your post is missing a lot of key info 1- what is the E85 mix? Are you using a flex-fuel kit? 2- map 5 is an aggressive map, even for E85, you need to datalog. The JB4 is going to map 0 to protect your engine, raising the limit will stop the Jb4 from kicking the car back to stock but also stop it from protecting the engine. Please datalog and send it to BMS

Doesn't it revert back to map 0 if it gets to lean or something else that it feels is dangerous is going on?

On more than one occasion, WOT, 3rd to 4th gear pull, JB4 Map 5, JB4 resets to Map 0. (Engine setting in Sport plus, M mode in sport mode, MDM on)
Logs show that fuel trims start from about 23 and hit 49 for a couple of seconds the JB4 falls out to Map 0. I’ve been advised that the fuel trims are maxing out (safety sends JB4 into Map0) and I should step down to map 4 and run E30. Map 5 feels AWESOME when it’s working and I want to keep running it but I haven’t been able to find a way to make it work consistently. I’m concerned about ignition timing and breaking something. Any suggestions?? 2022 M3 6MT E30 mix JB4 version 46/11/5 BMS front mounted intakes Mid pipe delete |

Guys. Seriously. Learn to understand the basics of reading a JB4 log. Boost vs target, high and low fuel pressure, fuel trims, AFR, ignition advance... Take logs in map 0. See how things change in map 1. Map 2. Learn a little about how the engine actually works. You don't have to be an expert tuner, but you should understand the basics before pushing your car to the limits of safety. Or don't and just cross your fingers.
