Engine shifting noise via speakers when shifting over 7k RPM - ASD is off

I used the search, but nothing this specific.

I am having this weird noise via the speakers (I believe from the underseat woofers) when the car is shifting at over 7k rpm on M1 or M2. It is like a loud overpower spike that sound like a porrrpp through the woofers. Only happens when shifting at full or near full throttle or the yellow on the RPM bar in the OHD. Doesn’t do it during normal driving, only when pushing the RMPs on M1 or M2. It reminds me like a blown speaker sound.

I checked my M1 and M2 settings, the M sound is set to ON. I will try changing it to off tomorrow and check if that will be the reason.

1. ASD has been coded off via Bimmercode.
2. Bimmer Tech Alpha One Amp installed.
3. CS trans code

I don’t hear any engine noise from the speakers during normal driving even spirited driving.

Thanks for the help.

Did the ASD got coded off, you hear the clear difference compared to before?

Yes, ASD is coded off for sure. I don't hear anything during normal driving. It is only that "proopp" sound when up-shifting over 7k rpm.

Isn't ASD not truly off via Bimmercode?

Edit, looks like this is possible but it's not easy and people end up leaving it partially on....

That I don't know. I will have to ask my Mech, but I remember seen him using Bimmercode in expert mode.

You don’t need to use expert mode, you need to remove the activation code. If the feature is still activated it’s possible there is still some aspect of it left enabled that is causing this, I would go in and make sure the activation code is disabled.

"remove the activation code"

Can you elaborate, I am not verse on Bimmercode yet. I want to make sure I can relate to my mech.

In bimmercode after you connect to the receiver audio module, there is an option at the bottom labeled “activation codes”. From that submenu you need to remove the activation code for ASD, it should be self-explanatory once you are in the correct menu.

Ok, I will go by tomorrow and check if that is the reason. Thanks

This is the best way to totally disable ASD. Worked like a charm for me. Also made me keenly aware that this car needs an exhaust….BADLY. It did expose all the rattles in my dash 😞

Update: I just went for ride to proof my hypothesis:
"if I go to my driving settings and turn off M sound from the M1 and M2 settings will that turn off the "PROOOT sound" I was hearing on high RPM shifting through the woofers when on M1 and M2?"

That fix the darn stupid sound. Ahhhh so quiet now. Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
