Has everyone ruled out Black Sapphire Metallic?

Anyone Considering a Black G80 with Kayalami Orange interior? My current production is for Brooklyn Grey but released photos in that color are underwhelming and although I do like IOMG I feel like there will be many of those on the road. Thoughts?

I most likely will do BSM for my first go around but i also want to see SPY in person first.

I am also thinking BSM w/Kayalami Orange interior for the same reason

Yes, it hides the grilles, looks good with standard wheels, should be very popular. Much more popular than it was on the F80, IMO.

I do worry that BSM diminishes the look of some of the other black bits of the car.
Shadowline parts generally look okay with BSM, but I worry about the fixed grill not looking as sharp with it being such a big piece. I can't stand the black honeycomb/mesh against BSM across any of the models, it just makes it look cheaper.

Based on my observation of this and other forums statistics would show that many are in fact considering IOMG simply because they want their car to stand out, meaning a color that is not available across BMW’s line of vehicles. That in its essence is why BMW individual paint is so popular.

There were a tonne of white Golf R's in my area and I had one of the outlier black ones. I regretted not getting white every single time I saw a white one in the wild. LBB is by far the most common color for an M2 that I have seen but that didn't stop me from getting LBB.

So they shell out all that extra money to be different? Silly me. All this time I've been under the impression that individual paint was for owners that didn't love the standard colors and wanted to ensure they got their new car in a color they really liked.

He's right dude. Get the color you like the best not the one that you think will be less represented. Besides black is always a popular color (2nd only to white in the industry) for any vehicle and you will probably see more than you expect in black.

The thing is for an M car I would lean towards a non G20 color so for now IOMG is my default color. Red is not my thing and the other colors just doesn't appeal to my tastes. Anyhow, the same argument was made for Portimao Blue on the G20 and going by what I have seen here and in my locale. The PB isn't a more popular color than the other options for G20 owners, AP seems to be more common, imagine that.

I would go for what you like! Its usually the color that grabs me first in a car and Estoril blue was like that on my M240i and IOMG is doing the same for the G80.

Here's the data you or are looking for:

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=23945730

Black, white, gray, silver, and yes, blue. Those are the colors to avoid if you want your car to be more unique.

Anecdotal evidence from this forum is going to lead you the wrong way since you are artificially limiting the sample group.

You addressed the point I was making within your first sentence. Everyone will want a non G20 Color. Since we can’t see the other colors I keep going back and forth on the builds. I appreciate your perspective.

I agree. I’ve had 8 BMW’s and they’ve all been White, Black and Silver. Lol

I wasn't trying to discourage you from getting black, by the way. I was just saying that if you think there will be a lot in green, well, there's almost sure to be quite a few more in black.

I will say that, since it is the debut color for the G80, IoMG is likely to be more popular than it otherwise would have been. It would be similar to how that same effect seemed to cause Yas Marina to be more popular on the F80 than one might have expected a light blue to be on an M3.

I agree with the above. I would not get the black [personally (obviously)] because...

While I think that black cars can have a powerful ominous look to them, the black can sometimes hide some of the curves of the car.

I'm not sure I could keep a black car as clean as I'd want. When you wash it and dry it front to back, when you get to the back the front is already dirty again.

I also would like a unique color. I'm considering a Laguna Seca individual depending on how the numbers look with it.

Although, I'm not really concerned about matching other cars around here. I'm pretty sure I've seen barely more than 10 M's around here in the 4 years I've had mine.

On the upside, I've seen an M440 in person in a dark color and it does help hide the grilles some.

Nope, any and all color but BSM. I need that large kidney grill to be front and center.

My last and current BMW were both BSM. I will go with it again on a G83. The only difference, this time, is that I am going to Xpel Stealth it so that it looks matte without the headaches of Frozen Black.

I wouldn’t be opposed to an individual color; however, my car has to be delivered before I leave Germany in May.
